thinking about ebaying a coupon system
Permalink

ok, i need some input from my girls please! :)

so, matt was telling me i should turn my couponing into some sort of business.  he can't believe how many comments i get on fb or how many people stop me in the store to ask questions, etc.  his original idea was for me to start a blog that people pay to join, but 2 things - i don't think frugal people will pay for that when there are already so many free resources out there and second, i don't know if i have time for that.

so i just had another idea while i was in the shower (i do great thinking in there).  i was thinking about selling a pre-assembled couponing binder on ebay.  i did a quick search there and this lady pretty much has the corner on the market and does something very similar to mine.  so i'm wondering if it's worth competing or not.

wdyt?  i could always do a listing with pictures of mine and then not buy the components until i get a buyer (or a bid at least).  i'm just not sure that there's a market out there.

tia!

I think that is a great idea!!  You know, I would honestly pay someone to cut out my coupons for me and organize them....lol  it is such a pita!  I really need another system because I have the binder but I am too lazy to cut out coupons and actually put them in. :bag

thanks liz!

well, no way can i do the clipping and putting away for you, but have you ordered Qs from ebay?  it's an easy way to stay organized if you just order what you need and put it away when it comes.  :)

YES!

you can get bulk of the Qs you need usually cheaper than dede and you don't have to spend $3 minimum.

for example, i found out that a store near me makes $1 Qs worth $2.  they have over the moon milk 1/2 gallons for $2.99, so after a $1 Q, the milk is only 99c per half gallon.

so i want more of these Qs, but don't really need much else.  i can get 20 of them on ebay for $1 (plus 49c shipping).  score!

really?

ok, good to know.

i'm trying to get in touch with jayna.  i'd love for her to do some covers for binders like this and then i could sell cute ones as opposed to just functional ones.

i have a feeling that it may get too expensive that way.  we'll see.

i love the idea april.
i think there's definitely a market for it - i think tons of people coupon.
and i agree, a blog would be a lot to keep up with.
go for it - worst case scenario, it doesnt work out, kwim?  DEFINITELY worth a try!! that's how things get started!

I think if you start a pay blog you need to be able to provide more info than a free blog does...ie- scenarios for multiple stores, deal alerts, lists of not yet released coupons, etc etc. You also need to be able to answer questions for a variety of stores. Otherwise once people pay to learn the basics they have no reason to continue paying for months to come, kwim?? I think the fabric covered binder idea is something that is much more attainable for someone that can't devote a full time schedule to maintaining the type of blog someone would pay to join.
