Melissa, how have your allergy issues been? Any better?

The steroids did wonders, but I am off them come tomorrow. I will let you know after. I am on a nasal steroid that works wonders and then I just go back to my zyrtec and that. I use my inhaler when needed. I am suppose to use the one daily and the other as a rescue, but not sure i need that.

I have to decide in three weeks if I want to do the shots or not. I do not know what I will do. We are not getting rid of our cat because of the girls. They love them too much, yet it is my biggest issue at home. However, it is not solely that because even when I am away a week I still have huge issues. It does feel good right now to not blow my nose 9 million times  a day. I hope that I do not go back to that after my steroid runs off.

Oh lord I can't believe you have a cat. I would die.

Just FYI, I'm doing allergy drops right now. Supposedly they've taken the place of the shots.

It's a 2 year deal where they slowly get all of the things you're allergic to into your system so that you build up an immunity. Same deal as the shots, less painful and they can get a bigger concentration of allergens into your system.

I started in early Dec and my doc said that I should see a big improvement this spring when my allergies are at their worst for me. If not he can tweek my dosage a little.

Worth looking into.

I know, I know. I honestly would get rid of the cat, but the girls are so attached. I know that sounds weak, but I just do not have it in me for them to hate me for getting rid of them. WE have two (does that make it even better)

Interesting on the drops. They never mentioned it to me. I am going to look into that. Thanks

Good morning!

This is an easy one for me: I'd be a doctor. Not sure what type specifically, but I would follow that path.

I was planning on attending a school on the east coast which had a bomb pre-med program when I got that little blue plus sign on New Year's Eve 1998. I ended up much closer to home, in a much less demanding program.

But I always wish I could go to med school; I'm doing the nursing route instead, hoping to end up as a nurse practioner.

nurse practitioner is great. I did not know this is what you were doing.

I'm trying, but it's hard to keep it all together. If all goes well, I should start nursing school next spring, which is a two-year program. I will get a bachelor's then, and my choices will be to either a) continue on to NP, or b) work.

Time will tell which path I follow!

that's great! i had no idea!!

Kristi, loves Jack quote...cracks me up!

Melissa, can the cats go to any family members where the girls can see them that way?

My mom is allergic to cats as well and they have 2. One use to come in the house but she had surgery about a month ago and they didn't let her in during her recovery time because she couldn't have the cat jumping on her lap and such. She said for those 2 weeks she felt the best she ever had and now they are not allowing the cat in. It is an indoor/outdoor cat and the other is just straight outdoor.

Owen would be an absolute mess with animals in the house, I see it when we just visit people who have animals how much it bothers him. Could not imagine being around it 24/7.

I have such angst over it all. I feel like an evil person for taking them away from them because of me. I do not have anyone that wants cats.

I know it would be wonderful to not have cat hair. Allison and Mia both are so in love with their cat though.

Ryan and Sarah ask me just about daily for a dog.

It sucks.

Ryan always thinks up ways that I cannot be allergic anymore.

He was asking me about seeing eye dogs one time like maybe that was an option. Doh!

I love hearing about what other people would do or are doing! We have a lot of fascinating people on this board! I think CSI would be a hard job, Kristi! You would have to be so detail oriented.

Stacey-my neighbor, Mandy, used to be a teacher and now is a photog-she does a great job and is building quite a business for herself! She mentored/assisted with someone at her church, and then stuck out on her own with it. She is too nice (gives too many discounts), but she really is developing quite a following, and she does beautiful work. You can totally make it happen!!!

I had more to say, but my sick brain can't remember now. I am still a little foggy, even though I am much better than I was.

Anyway, I am loving the SAHM gig, but if I were going back and doing what *I* wanted to do rather than what other people told me I *should* do, I can think of a couple of things. 1) a career in medicine-I used to think med school and becoming a doctor, but I think I would probably be better suited to being a nurse or CNP or something. I always thought that would be fulfilling and extremely interesting.

Another path I could have taken but didn't, and probably should have, was to get the double Master's in History and Library Science with a focus on archival materials. It would have taken more than twice as long to get, which is why I didn't do it, but I was really fascinated by it and should have taken the plunge and done it rather than just get the MLS with the school library media specialty. Yet another case of letting my mom and dad convince me that was my path when I knew in my heart it wasn't.

IHNI what I will do when my kids are in school full time or when they grow up, but like I said, for now, i am diggin' the SAHM thing!

hmm,  maybe you can keep them shaved like mr. bigglesworth..just joking!

i wish i knew how to help you make that decision. it is for your health though. and if you reversed this and allison and or mia was allergic i know you would get rid of the cats no questions asked.

hugs

We got rid of our dog but we only had her for a couple of months. I said I wouldn't get rid of her but got tired of trying to find a medication that worked for Raven. Within 2 weeks of the dog not being here she was back to normal. So worth it. The pedi said I was the first person to get rid of dog for an allergy. Is that good or bad?LOL

hmmm, shave them,lol. I

I agree that if it was for anyone else in my house I would, but I do not have the relationship with them that the kids and Rich does. The one cat was Rich's before we even met. The other came along after. I do like them, but I agree that I would feel better.

I am not sure Allie honestly can understand me getting rid of them because of an allergy. I mean she would not see it like that. It is a hard call.
