How big are they size wise?

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "big kid"?

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "baby"?

What are their latest tricks?

What's new in general?

Josie's still so bitty but she's such a big girl these days!

She'll be 2 1/2 in a week.

She's weighing in around 24 lbs. She's in 18 month pants, 24 month shirts, 24 month footie pjs. I bought her adjustable waist 24 month jeans from childrens' place and they fall off her.

She's got a tiny butt and a big giant belly. it's adorable!

Big girl stuff:

she's completely toilet trained, day and night. She's a friggin machine when it comes to holding her pee. She pees at 7 pm before bath and some days, she doesn't go again until 9:30 am or 10. Terrible bad for her but you can't make her go if she doesn't want to.

She talks a mile a minute. All the time. Non-stop. She's getting so much clearer now too. I'd say a stranger could understand 75% of things she says now.

She's sleeping on the lower bunk, no bed rail.

She dresses herself every morning, shirt, pants, and socks. She also insists on picking her own outfits. Some days are interesting. lol.

Baby stuff:

she's a total snuggler.

she still naps for about 2 hours a day.

she's so little that she looks so much younger.

hmmmm. that's about it. man, how do they grow up so quickly?

What's new?

She moved up to the second oldest room in daycare (so strange since she started a year ago in the baby room). She's loving it so much. She loves being a big kid and god forbid you call her a toddler or a baby!

She's really wonderful (mostly) and we're so blessed to have her!

i'm not sure how big she is.  hasnt been measured or weighed since august, and i know she's bigger than then.  she's still on the short side compared to other kids her age, and while she looks chunky to me, she never weighs that much on the charts (she's been consistently 10th%).

totally seems like a big kid, especially without the binky now, and with the underwear (we still use diapers out of the house though). she's also really adept at holding crayons and stuff like that - presses down hard - can string beads, etc. plus she talks really well.

but she seems like a baby bc of her missing consonants. i  love that.  "wowwipop" - "yewwow weggins" etc - so cute.

she also still has major chunky cheeks and her hair is taking a while, so her overall look is very babyish (especially compared to how R looked at this age).

i love this age. the crap tantrums are done (not that she doesnt have any, but they're mainly done) and she is SO snuggly and sweet now. i love this compact size - she always seems so warm and lovey.  i'm burying my head in her tummy constantly.

PT day and night? WOW. that's amazing.
she sounds a lot like cara otherwise. i cant believe how much different the "self help skills" are in the second. R was not getting dressed on her own till 3, and even then i had to really push it.
youre lucky J naps still.  i only get a short half hour stint in the mornings, and only in the car, and only if the stars are aligned.

i'm considering putting C in a toddler bed soon. not sure i want to deal yet. i was thinking spring.

She completely did it herself. She trained herself and they helped her at daycare (I still thought it would be a bigger pain than it was worth) when she turned two.

By september, she was always dry in the morning so I decided to put her in underware at night - i figured, what was the worst thing that would happen?

she's had exactly one accident at night since then. and Mike gave her a pile of water that night.

i guess when they are ready, they are ready.

How big are they size wise?

Kate is still pretty little.  She hasn't been weighed in quite some time but I think she's around 25#.  She is in 2T shirts and 24 month pants or 2T if they have adjustable waist.  Her feet are so little - size 6.5.

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "big kid"?

Kate is so different from the boys in that she tries to dress herself (although she's not super successful yet).  She wants to wear big girl panties (over her diaper!).    She sits with us in the booth at restaurants up on her knees - no more highchairs or booster seats and that makes her seem really big to me.  She really wants to do things herself (like buckle her carseat which takes for.e.ver! and I still end up buckling it but tricking her so she *thinks* she did it.)

She is getting good at brushing her teeth and letting me check (checking has been hard to this point b/c she makes me fight just to see in her mouth!).

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "baby"?

She is not potty trained at all and I believe that is because of the fire at daycare - the kids are still displaced from their classrooms and have been for a full 3 months.  She is no where near a bathroom throughout the day so there is no potty training going on there.  In the 2 months before the fire she was *so* interested in the potty.  Going at home at least once a day.  Now whenever we try to put her on she really baulks.  They move back into their classrooms the week of 2/7 and I intend to really start working it then and I'm sure they will be too.
She
What are their latest tricks?

She loves to sing and read books.  She loves taking baths or standing in the shower.   When I get ready in the a.m. she will take off her pants and sit on the counter in the bathroom and soak her feet and wash her hands and play with my makeup.  Before bed we will talk about her friends - lots of the kids at daycare have siblings there as well.  I will ask her "where is Marlie" and she will answer "home with Dylan" who is Marlie's brother.  She knows every sibling combo and its really cute.  And she's getting really good at telling me bits and pieces of her day - she told me last week Marlie was sick and the teacher had to take her temp (and she lifted her arm to show me how they took her temp) and her grandma came to get her and she went home.  It's so adorable to hear her sharing what she remembers happening throughout her day.  They have praise time every morning and I guess Kate sits on Jake's lap during it heart.gif Last week Jake was out sick and Kate went up to Jake's teacher and said "My Jakey at da doctor!"

What's new in general?

She has gotten into this horrible habit of crying and screaming in the car.  The 15 minute ride to or fro is HELL most days.  It's not even just to daycare - she did it this a.m. on the way to church. I try everything to distract her and nothing works.  She screams bloody murder the entire time.  wth??  I'm a ball of nerves by the time I get anywhere!

Before bed at night she has me kiss random body parts - her hands, arms, fingers, forehead, hair.  It is so silly but she loves it.

Here is a pic of her from yesterday - I let her paint and when she paints . . . um she really paints eyepopping.gif

thank you.

we feel so blessed with her too.  I don't know what it is about having a girl after boys but she has definitely turned our worlds upside down in a good way.  She's such a sweet little joy (when she's not screaming at me in the car!)

How big are they size wise?

jake is around 33 pounds and i'm not sure how tall.  his feet are a size 10!!!  i remember he used to be so small but now i think he's going to be big.  :)  he's wearing 3T or 4T shirts and he really needs to be in 3T jeans.  the stretchy waist ones i find he's still find in the 2T.  boy has no butt so stuff slides down but the 2T jeans are getting tough to button. :)

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "big kid"?
he's completely independent in the bathroom.  runs in there, pulls up the stool, pulls down his pants, pees standing, pulls everything up, flushes, and puts everything away.  he does need help buttoning his jeans, but that's it.

he is in a toddler bed now and just started getting out of it when he wakes up.  boo to that.  he's VERY verbal and easy to understand.  i cannot believe how much he can communicate.

he is only napping about twice per week at school right now. :(

he's also like a sponge and shares SO much of what he learns at school.  in the grocery store the other day, he was pointing out all the "matches" so i guess they've been working on that at school since i've never heard him saying that before.

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "baby"?
he gets really upset lately when daddy tries to play rough with him.  and he always comes running to mommy for help.  :(

he'll nap 3 hours on the weekends if we let him.

we still battle him at mealtimes.  if it's not his favorite foods (and sometimes even when it is), we are constantly fighting to try to get him to eat.  so annoying.

What are their latest tricks?
he's doing great with letters and shapes and pretty much knows them all.  he's very creative with pretend play - the other day in the grocery store, he was using 2 bottles of dish soap and calling them mommy and daddy and making them talk and kiss.  soooo funny.

The squeaky voice and the attitude take care of that. ;)

I dont know if Raymond counts but I consider him a toddler. He'll be two in March.

Big Boy stuff: He knows ALL his upercase and lowercase letters and can write some of them. He knows some colors and the numbers 2, 8, 9, and 0

He can throw his diapers away for me and do some things hes told to do (this is new for him so I consider it big boy stuff). He sleeps in a toddler bed.

Baby stuff

Loves to cuddle and give hugs but I hope he always does this. Hes still limited on his
vocabulary but is making progress.

Hes 33 inches tall and weighs 24 lbs.

Josie is soooo cute!!!!  What a good singer!!! : )

Emilia's whining/fussing makes her seem like a baby.  WHEN will it stop?!?!  Seriously, WHEN will it stop?!??!

(Just saying "whining and fussing" doesn't do it justice.  The sound is horrific.  Ugh.)

Otherwise, Emilia is all big girl.  I have to remind myself that she's still 3 and not 4 like Addie.   She is actually more independent than Addie with things like getting dressed, doing buttons, etc.

Sizewise, I think she's pretty average.....maybe like 32 pounds?  She wears all 3T clothes.

Her new thing is writing her name.......she wasn't that interested in writing (Addie always was), and then one day a couple of months ago, she just was.  She went from totally scribbling to being able to write it.  So, anyway, now she likes practicing and doing "homework."  : )  (The girls call it that.....they want to be like the older neighbor girls.)

The other thing that's fun to see is how she does in gymnastics and dance class (she and Addie are in the same class for both).  She is the youngest in both classes (they were for ages 3-4 year olds, but both classes are mostly 4 and newly turned 5 year olds), and she totally holds her own, follows along, does the steps (sometimes better than the bigger girls, I have to admit), etc.  I am so proud of her for that!!

(I feel like I can "brag" a little about Emilia because she can be soooooooo difficult to deal with, and she frustrates me soooooo much sometimes, and I feel like I complain about her to friends IRL a lot that I need to balance it out! haha)

Kevin will be 3 on the 18th and weighs about 28 lbs and is 37 inches tall.  He wears mostly 3T tops (some 4T) and 3T pants with adjustable waists, though the pants will be getting short soon.

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "big kid"?

He loves to follow/copy his big brother, so he's doing a lot of things that seem big kid-ish.  He loves to climb and jump, is very fast and active and coordinated.

He's a major talker and is nonstop all day long, especially when he gets excited about something.  His communication is very good, and he's pretty funny, our little joker.

He knows the alphabet and letter sounds, as well as colors, shapes and numbers.  He can hold a pencil/crayon very well but is still pretty much scribbling at this point aside from circles.

Before we moved we had already taken down his side rail, and now that we're here he's sharing a queen-sized bed with Kyle.

He's pretty fearless and is our little daredevil.  The boys went sledding this weekend, and Kevin wasn't afraid to go down the hill by himself.  Even after a couple hard crashes, I'm talking face in the snow crashes, he would laugh and jump back up saying, "I want to do that again!"

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "baby"?

He's not PT yet, still shows very little interest other than being afraid of he toilet.  Before we moved he was starting to work on it at school but it was hit and miss for the most part.  I need to get moving on this, it's probably more my laziness than anything.

He still likes to say, "hold my baby" when he wants to snuggle (I love that!).

He still naps a good 2hrs a day, sometimes as long as 3.

He is throwing major tantrums lately, but I guess that's just part of this age (sigh).

What's new in general?

He enjoys playing with starfall on the computer.  I was surprised how quickly he picked up navigating the site on his own.

Since moving and me not working, both he and Kyle have become VERY attached to me.  It's good and bad, but we're enjoying it.

I love him so much, as much as he tests me, he makes me laugh and I love the snuggling.

I'm not sure Kate counts, but if Emilia does, then so does Kate! :)

How big are they size wise? Kate is 33lbs and 40".  She wears 4T clothes and her shoes are 9.5-Anna's feet are far bigger, and wider too.  Kate's are actually pretty narrow.

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "big kid"? Well, IDK.  She is a very independent player most of the time, she dresses herself, cleans up after herself, etc.  She is definitely a big girl, but...

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "baby"? her behavior screams baby.  Well, she just throws fits all the time.  She is a huge pita.  Don't get me wrong, I love her with all my heart and I think she is very very bright and can be a sweet little girl, but she is just a holy terror with the tantrums and the independence.  Girl is wearing me out.

What are their latest tricks? She is all of a sudden very interested in the punctuation in books.  I don't know that I would call that a trick, but she points to all the punctuation and wants to know what they are and what they mean.  She also is constantly asking to practice writing her name (she actually writes more neatly than Anna, but she knows fewer letters).

What's new in general? Not much, really.  Only tonight did I see a glimpse in her that she WANTS to change her behavior (it is only because of our bean system-she earned two for doing a great job cleaning up, but then lost them because she wasn't listening at bedtime).  She was crying tonight and said she wished she could do better.  About broke my heart-but that means the beans are doing what I hoped they would!

Lance is in 3T tops, and 2T-3T pants (they fall off him -- he's got an 18-24m butt! but he needs them for length so we get adj waistbands and belts too). He's in a size 10 shoe, just like Holly (lmao).

Big kid stuff:

He can count to 20 (though sometimes he skips 6 and 7), knows shapes, colors, letters and numbers out of order by sight, etc. and his vocabulary is very good compared to where Holly was at the same age.

He enunciates decently well unless he's upset, and he can talk about his emotions or what he thinks someone else feels (silly, sad, scary/scared, happy).

He's very polite (please, thank you, excuse me, you're welcome) and it's rare that I have to prompt him on those.

He's been in a toddler bed (converted crib) for a while now.

Baby stuff:

He still gets out of bed multiple times a night most nights when I'm first putting him down.

Mealtimes are still a battle.

He's not potty training (though he will pee, seated, on the potty before bathtime if I give him the chance). He's not actively interested.

Latest tricks:

He's started to anticipate the needs of others. If Evie looks unhappy, he'll come tell me "Mommy, Evie sad. She hungry. She need a bottle." If I stretch out on the couch, he'll say "Wait!" and run to get one of his pillows for me, and cover me with his beloved blue blanket (the one Alaina made for my shower! heart.gif). He's very sensitive to how other people feel.

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "big kid"?  She does everything herself and loves to help do work around the house like sweep, vacuum, fold and put away clothes. She's been fully potty trained night and day for a year now.  She's just very independant.

What are they doing that makes them seem like a "baby"?  She still melts down many times a day.  Its seems like she is regressing right now and it is getting worse.  Not sure if that is normal.  She also still drinks about 45-50 oz of milk a day.  I know that is terribe but I give in b/c I can't deal with the tantrums otherwise.  She has also started waking up crying multiple times at night which has me puzzled.

What are their latest tricks?  Standing on her head.  Literally, LOL!   She has also gotten really good at navigating the computer and is allowed to play games a little bit each day.

What's new in general?  We are starting an OT program in addition to her ST called trampoline therapy soon.  She is also finally interested in being snuggly and giving hugs and kisses.  She can be so unpredictable but that is what makes her Anna!
