as usual...

dh asked me what my plans were for today. i told him i want to go to the library with the kids and i need my 3 hours to clean without the kids.

he was all ... "oh, ok." (insert awkward silence and pouty-ish face here)

HTF does he think this house is going to get/stay organized and clean?????

i am literally home for an hour or two TOPS during the day. during which time i have 3 small kids with me.

*sigh* it's always "i'm on board, i want to help, i will do whatever you need" ... until it's time to actually DO it. then it's a hassle, or he's doing me a favor, etc...

trust me, i'd rather hire a cleaning service but since we can't afford that it's up to ME to do it.

<end rant>

kitchen floor washed.

man, I can't wait to replace this linolium. it doesn't even look like I washed it. blah.

We need a new kitchen floor as well.

I was going to start a thread about it.

Our stupid linoleum has an "etched" swirl design all through it, and the dirt does NOT come out of those swirls. Annoying.

Some moron picked the flooring in our kitchen and bathrooms. In the bathrooms, the floor, counters, and wall around the tub have a brown swirl design. Brown like dirt.

Boo to his attitude.

Hopefully you'll still get your time ALONE--to clean or whatever.

I'm probably jinxing myself as well but my kids have been getting along pretty well.

And they've been home all day together every day for several days the past few weeks.

If it is a preview of summer, then summer vacation won't be too bad.

Really, as long as they're working together on a project of some sort, they're great.

Right now, they're stacking and knocking down empty Pringle's cans. Yesterday they bowled with them.

The other day, they spent HOURS turning Henry's room into a "space party" room.

And they spent at least an hour making a robot out of an old toy that I let them take apart a few days ago.

On Wednesday (I think), they worked together on making a zoo cake.

that's great, Robin.

I'm really starting to see a turnaround in the kids being able to play together.

too bad both of them want to be the boss, though. lol.

i wonder who they get that from?

Henry has a skating birthday party this afternoon.

I think all 4 of us will go; that way, Glen can play video games with Mark, and I can skate.

Not sure what Henry will do--skate or not skate--but I know he'll have fun.

The roads are finally clearing so hooray for getting out of the house!!

I had such a nice bday.

Even though the actual party was cancelled due to bad weather, we went to my parents' house at lunchtime instead.

And since everyone got off work early, we had the get-together at lunch instead of dinner. That way, my brother got to be there too.

My parents gave me $$, my in-laws gave me $$.

Glen and the boys gave me a swimsuit that I bought myself at Target and told them to wrap, a Malco movie gc, three wooden blocks from Mark's room--he picked that out--, and a note that said I could get a new computer.

My Secret Pal at work gave me a small potted plant, a B&N gc, a notepad and pen, and a bag of my favorite little candy bars.

Of course now that I CAN get a computer, I'm thinking that money might be better spent on a new kitchen floor. *sigh*

I'm going to dinner at Red Lobster with Kimberly to celebrate my birthday!!

Woo-hoo!! Dinner out with no kids!

(Mark just informed me that if Dad takes him and Henry to Red Lobster for dinner, they'll get a table that's not next to me. Hmm.)

Then we're going to see Extraordinary Measures. Can't wait!

Looks like the streets will be clear for school tomorrow.

Do y'all know how much I love it that Henry has friends this year? And that he's acting like a regular 9-year-old? Well, as much as any 9-year-old acts like a "regular" 9-year-old. giggle.gif
