I saw quote this on another board in someone's siggy

"Yes, I'm pregnant. No, it's not twins. Yes, it's a girl. Yes, I'm excited. Now, since you are clearly concerned about my dear girl, given how many questions you've asked about her, does this mean you'll be contributing to her college fund?"

wdyt?  (including anyone who is currently pregnant) would questions like this offend you?  if so, why exactly?  I am confused.  I personally would feel flattered that someone took the time to notice...or wanted to make small talk.  (in other words, it doesn't seem overly intrusive to me).

Honestly, I think it just gets annoying being asked the same questions multiple times a day, day after day. The grocery store clerk. The waiter, the random person on the street, kwim? I don't see it so much as intrusive as annoying. I remember being 7 months preggo and a guy at the grocery store said "you look like you're ready!" And I was so annoyed and pissed. Um, yeah, in two more freakin' months!!!

all the complaining is one thing i hate about expecting boards.

i guess people in the us tend to be more invasive with the questions - over here it has only started in the past few weeks - a cashier might ask when i am due and they wont make any bitchy judgemental comments - they usually just wish me and the baby good health.

It never bothered me either. I kind of liked it.

It didn't bother me if people told me I was huge (I was) or thought I would go any day, etc.

It's just chit chat. People don't know what else to say.

I think it is rude. Sure, we may think those things time to time, but does not mean they need to be said. I am thinking she thinks she is funny. Really it just seems silly and stupid.

I will say that it does annoy me when every day someone tells you how big you are and if you are having twins. I would get that at work constantly. Some days I would just let it roll off my back and others I wanted to rip out an eye. Maybe people in the U.S. are just too darn nosy, lol.

I never did any other expecting board when pregnant with  Mia and I was not on this one till Allison was almost a year I believe, so I did not go through a pregnancy with others like that before.

I was so beyond enthralled to be pregnant that I didn't give a rip what people said :D And that's the truth. I loved that what I had dreamed of and wished for, for so long was a conversation point, that's just me though. I did have one cashier from wal-mart tell me must be any day when I still had 2 months left LOL! But I was huge with Bryson and it wasn't that big a deal I kind of thought dang mama must be bigggg but eh I just let it slide off. My honest thoughts on that women is maybe she's one of those that are incredibly lucky whose "husband can just look at her and she's knocked up" so it's not a big deal and she doesn't want to share about it. I don't know. I loved talking about being pregnant, having both of my babies, and still do.

it never bothered me either.

pregnancy is an exciting time and people are just naturally curious.

maybe I'm just too easy going?!

I'm not at all easy going (LMAO), and it never bothered me. So that's not it. LOL!

To the original question, I feel like getting annoyed by it is one thing... especially if people are asking if you're having twins and you're not and you're already feeling like a whale.

But to put that quote in your siggy? Sounds to me like someone who LOVES the attention so much that even when it's over, she's still talking about it to other people -- under the auspices of being "annoyed by" and "above it", of course.

tx_mg would've had a field day with her. LOL!

In casual settings, it did not.  Random grocery clerk, fine.  Lady at daycare pick up, good.  You could have moo'd at me, and I would have just nodded an laughed.  I was that big.

In work however, it got on my nerves.  I honestly tried to not bring up my pregnancy because I felt like people focused on that and not the fact (at the time) I was leading a department of all men (campus safety).  I often felt we would be in a committee meeting, and I would get the most pregnancy question IN the meeting.  I would most often be like, yup, things are good.  So, about the emergency evacuation plans... blah blah blah.

totally the same for me. for some reason at work I could not take it. I am not kidding on how many times per day there were comments.

every day at the end I would get you the whole line of "you are still here" and I felt like just saying "no, what do you think dumb arse"

See, I am not that happy and glowing pregnant women though :)

Sounds like a hormonal preggo.

When I was about half way through I wanted to make a shirt that said, "I FEEL FINE!!!!!"

I was so sick of that question.

That's a bit much, and pretty obnoxious, imo. I've seen shirt that say the gender and month, but the last line of that is what makes it so insane. I got annoyed a lot, especially at work by stupid questions, and being told, "wow. You look like you're going to pop." at 5 months, when I had a lifetime to deal, but I kept my bitchiness where it belonged - stuffed down deep inside me to release on my unsuspecting husband at a later date. Stfu and deal, rude preggo - it's 9 months. Just wait until her kid gets older and spends 12 hours a day repeating the same question, lol.

i will say that the only time i was really annoyed at what someone said was when i was pregnant with andrew and worked at target.  as i was leaving for the night, someone said  I was waddling like a duck (over the loudspeaker)....i guess they thought it was cute - but it wasn't ;)

LOL When people ask me how far along I am, I just look at them like "what the heck are you talking about?" if I am not in the mood to chat it up about my fat preggo body. But for the most part, I think people are not TRYING to be rude or annoying. I think this person who posted the quote is interested in the attention though, or has a weird sense of humor. LOL

But someone coming up and wanting to touch my belly is a different story...that creeps me out.

Questions like this never bothered me.  I loved talking about it.  I also never minded when people rubbed my belly.
