Anna is doing some strange things at night-I'll tell you what happened last night, and you tell me...is this normal behavior???

So at about 10pm last night, I heard her.  She was talking, but I couldn't make out what she was saying.  Then I heard her get out of bed, so I went in to check on her.  She was crawling on the floor and mumbling.  (???)  So, I asked if she was sick, she said no (her tone was almost tearful), I asked if she was scared, she said no.  So I picked her up and sat on the bed with her.  She immediately jumped down, walked across the room to where her books are, then turned and went over to the dollhouse, bent over and touched it and said, "It's off now." (????)

Then she went to the bathroom.  I went in there with her, and she was all jittery.  Her eyes were wipe open, but it was like she was just completely out of it.  She then went back to her room, laid down and was OUT and I didn't hear from her again until morning.

I felt like maybe she was sleepwalking or something.  Is this a normal type of thing at this age or not?  She has done this kind of thing a couple of times now.

Most likely was dreaming and not fully awake. Allie wakes at night and talks, but is totally out of it. Maybe she will start to sleepwalk. Is this the first time ever? I would not really worry at all.

so weird, right?! i get totally creeped out when R does weird stuff in the night. she comes down to sleep in bed with me every single night at about 11 - sometimes she climbs right in, but other times she just STANDS THERE staring, like the kid in the 6th sense or something - it flips me out!  mike and i have totally woken up at like 2 am to her just standing there.
thank god she never talks though.

i have read that it is TOTALLY normal for preschoolers to sleepwalk and talk.  i know that sleep behavior correlates a lot with hormone stuff, so it all makes sense for this age group. i looked it up once and found a lot of info (and cant remember any of it).

when i was 4, i remember (and my mom has told me) that i used to wake up and walk in FAST circles (like speedwalking) around my livingroom, and i'd call my sister "david" while doing it.  then i'd go back upstairs, put my doll in a dresser drawer (lmao), and get back in bed.  it was like a ritual - and i remember it was in preschool and kindergarten.  so weird!!! i wouldnt worry about it though - it's good that you go and hang with her though when it happens - she might get scared if she wakes up and doesnt know what happened, ya know?

It is a recent thing.  She has done it a few times, though not the exact same thing everytime.  But everytime she wants to turn something off-she doesn't know what!

It is really weird.

THANK YOU.  This makes me feel so much better!!!  The staring would freak me out, omg.  I think I would just about die!!!

You know, now that you mention this, I vaguely remember there being a time when I used to get up and leave my room, and my mom was terrified I would fall down the stairs (we had these two level open stairs in our house, and there were two sets of them going all the way to the basement, so had I fallen, I could have bounced my way down two stories of the house.  Now they have railings on the steps).

It is completely weird, but I am glad to know it is normal.  She isn't upset by it, as far as I know, but it is just so strange!

it totally freaks me out. i dont even know if she's asleep or what - not sure if she's sleepwalking...but she jsut STANDS THERE.  what's funny is that i wake up from that.  i can just FEEL her there even if she makes NO noise.  cuh-razy.
you should ask your mom more about it - these stories are so interesting.

Laura....Ivy has started talking in her sleep alot too. and also, she will come and get in bed with me but sorta act "out of it" and say strange things, so I think she might be sleepwalking too. idk, but yes, it is strange!! but I *think* normal.

sounds like sleepwalking.  I've seen my friends lil brother do it alot when we were younger he was only 4 at the time.  I think it's normal, you usually dont want to wake them up anyhow.  just guide them back to bed.  But ita, it can be creeeeepy sometimes! Eh

Sounds like classic sleepwalking to me. My sister sleep walked as a kid and her son does too. One night he even woke up taking a shower!

The only time Braxton has done this was finding him crying in the corner. What really creeps me out though is when he wakes up from a deep sleep most the time his whole body is trembling.

I'm not sure where I heard it but I totally think the sleep walking is normal. But I totally get freaked out to a kid just standing by the bed. Luckly everytime
Braxton has done this he has been awake.

Definitely sleep walking.  Nolan does it all the time.

I would be creeped out about it, but I did it constantly when I was a kid too, so I know he probably got it from me.  In fact I still do sometimes now and it creeps Tom out.

One night I woke up in the middle of the night, turned on the light and started looking in my shoe.  Tom asked me wth I was doing and I told him I was looking for money in my shoe. lol!
