I'm still spotting. It's not a lot of blood, and blood is kind of brown and old looking. So I'm sure it's probably fine.

But today I also have cramps. They feel kind of like period cramps. But honestly, I ate a big lunch so it might also be gas. I have a touch of heartburn too.

I don't want to call the ob again--trying to hold out until I go in on Wed. I know there is nothing they can do anyway. But is this normal? how much is too much?

I had no spotting at all with Ethan so this is new to me.
(I haven't had sex since Sun--EJ says we will not have sex until the baby is born because of the spotting. I have been a little constipated though.)

i never had spotting and i dont know the answers, but if youre uneasy, you can totally call.  it might just put your mind at ease and get you through the weekend.

I would call anytime you are concerned, but I thought I would tell you I had awful cramping my first 10 weeks. They felt like period cramps and I was worried. I think they are normal, but I am no Doc.

I was always told brown blood is old blood, but again I would always call and get their opinion. I would think if something was wrong you would be getting red blood and more then spotting.

I would call-better to be overly cautious, IMO.

However, I had bleeding with Anna, and when I called them, they were not terribly concerned. They told me to drink some water, lay down and take it easy. They said in terms of the bleeding, if I were filling a pad an hour, to call them back right away. And one day, I just did too much, and had cramps and spotting-they told me if the cramps didn't ease up after hydrating and resting, or if the bleeding picked up-again to filling a pad an hour-to call them back. After some water and rest though, I felt a ton better. I just overdid it.

Still, it doesn't hurt to call, tell them what is going on, and get their input. They may want to see you, or they may just advise you to take it easy and keep them posted.

Keep us posted too, ok Slick? And remember-it is a lot more common than people think to have some spotting/bleeding during early pregnancy.

ETA-I forgot to mention that I had cramping a lot in early pregnancy too-they told me it was pretty normal.

What you're describing sounds like you just did too much. I would say rest, de-stress, just take it easy. If it gets worse then call.

Since you were just there, it is probably okay to wait it out. I would tell you to call if the blood turns red, but since it is still brown, it is probably the old blood that the dr saw the other day. Try not to worry. The first trimester stinks!

If it stays brown and very light I would wait. If it turns red or pink I would call right away.

I had one more spotting incident Tuesday night it was brown and only twice when I wiped but I completely shut down. John was like are you okay?! I just told him it freaks me out and I do not like it at all. Of course with this hematoma I know there is a chance this will go on until this passes.

Like you, I have never bled with any of my pregnancies even my losses so I know it is doubly scary.

Hugs! If you are worried definitely called anything to help ease your stress.

thanks everyone. We are on deadline at work and they just gave me some additional responsibilities so I've been a little overwhelmed. Probably not helping that I'm having trouble focusing so it's taking me longer to do things. I'm sure it's just from stress.

I think I'll wait and see how I am tomorrow. Maybe if I rest tonight. I don't want to be obsessive and keep calling when I was just there. And I'm going back on Wed. And let's face it, there is nothing they can do anyway except tell me it's fine.

(Cramping went away once my lunch, um, settled. so maybe I just overate, again.)

I had lots of period like cramping and brown spotting when I was pregnant with Austin, like in the first 8 weeks. I kept thinking I was miscarrying, but the cramping tapered off and so did the spotting. Like PP have said, as long as its brown, its old blood and as long as its not getting heavy you should be ok.

I had no idea you were pregnant though!!!! Congrats!!!! Whats your due date? : )

I think the cramping is pretty usual, esp early on. I remember having it lots with Carter.

Remember that your OB shouldn't care how often you call, so if you're worried, pick up the phone! That's what they're there for!

Get some rest, and drink tons of water, babe.

Fwiw, I had spotting with Hannah and was terrified, but it ended up (obviously) being nothing.

I had spotting at 6 and 8 weeks with Mason.  I don't remember cramping with him, but with Peepers it felt just like period cramps!

I hope in your case it's just nothing and little one stops giving you trouble.  :)

I thought of something else. You might call and have your progesterone checked.

thanks everyone! Nothing since this afternoon. I'm drinking a lot of water. Trying to rest. If I can get through the next week at work, it will be clear sailing and I can relax.

Nicole, I haven't been given an "official" due date but I'm guessing it's Sept 3, give or take a day or two. I'm 7 weeks.

I am so excited for you! Hang in there girlie. You've gotten some great advice, and like PP said, you shouldn't ever hesitate to call your OB if you are concerned. Thats their job. : ) Stay put baby! Wishing you a happy, healthy, uneventful pregnancy!

Just a side note- I got heartburn, tummy cramping etc, all the time with Rhys when I would eat too much. I mean, early on. I thought WTF, he is the size of a pencil eraser, its not like he is taking up so much room, but it was something about simply being preg itself that caused me to be uncomfortable. My OB friend said it had something to do with the hormones in the body, I cant remember exactly right now. But, anyway, just FYI, since with my first, the heartburn and discomfort did not start until WAY later.
