Heard back from the attorney...now talk salary!

she is offering me the position at two days a week initially and if I want to increase, fine if not, then that is fine as well!!   then she said that as the practice progresses, she will hire someone else to do what I am doing and I can do paralegal work.  She is asking me for my salary requirements.  this is so hard.  what should I do?  should i try to get her to extend an offer?

Congrats again!!! IHNI what to do about salary-my jobs have always had a definite salary associated with them!! I'm sure our business savvy moms will have more input on that, but I am so glad things are moving forward!!

Could you do a search of what paralegals generally make in your area? Congrats again. Sounds like it was really meant to be.

what is your position to start with?

I know you will eventually be a paralegal but what are your job duties going to be going in.

and what city do you live in and/or near?  are you in MO?

How awesome!!! So, so happy for you!!!

I know that DH aims for somewhere in the middle. Too low and he feels he's coming across as he's selling himself short. Too high and he feels like he's coming off as cocky. So he aims for the middle. He also does what someone else suggested and researches what someone in that position has made previously in that company in that position he's going for and bases it within a dollar or two off that.

Good luck!! And I'd do what one of the other posters says to do and research what a paralegal makes in your area since that's initially what you'll be heading towards soon enough!

Congrats!

Thanks Kelly!  I went ahead and sent a email stating a salary I was comfortable with and she said "yes"!  so, it is official...I am going to be starting once she moves in...around feb. 15th.  It will only be two days a week, but that is all I want anyway (I am taking graduate classes also).  so that is fine!
