On the iphone, you can get your email (personal, not corporate). You don't have to be logged in to a regular computer. You can also see your Facebook inbox.
i have the blackberry curve. i keep the phone signed in to my yahoo mail and get a notification whenever i have an email...i would assume it would be the same with a coperate email acct.
