Can't seem to find the perfect one yet.  The last one I made wasn't chewy.  I want little or no sugar unless it's honey.

in order to make it hold together and be a bit chewy you are going to have to use the oil, brown sugar and honey to make it.

How are you doing it?

This recipe called for 2T of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of honey and 1/2 cup of oil.  It made 18 bars 4 1/4 by 1 1/2(+/-).

I have another recipe that almost replaces the oil with applesauce but I've never done that with granola bars.  How do you think they would come out.

Do you want it in bar form? If so then the oil helps that. I make just regular granola and bake it, but not in a bar form. I use the brown sugar, honey and oil. I wonder what it would be like with the applesauce. I like that better. I am going to try it. I throw in cranberry or raisins and then I bake on a sheet.

it should be fine with applesauce. I always use that in brownies instead of oil and  it comes out fine. id assume it would work the same way for granola bars.

I'm going to try the other recipe with applesauce and see. It's called Chewy Multi-Grain Bars so maybe it's chewy.LOL My favorite combo so far is dried cranberry and almonds
