Disney World resort questions

I am fairly certain at this point we will be going to Disney at the end of the month or maybe the first week of Feb.  I have found some pretty decent rates but want to know if any of you have ever stayed at:

Port of New Orleans Riverside
Caribbean Beach Resort
Pop century (value resort)
All Star Movie
All Star Music
All Star Sports

If you have, what did you think?  Basic is fine with us.  I am also not sure if the value resorts have heated pools.  Anything else you think we might want to know, feel free to post.  I have been there before, but it has been a long time now.

Thank you!

We stayed at Pop Century when we went in 2008. It was a fun little resort. Rooms are very basic and travel time to the Magic Kingdom (where we spent most of our time) got to be long.

We stayed at The Polynesian when we went in 2009 it was right on the monorail line. It is a deluxe and the only reason we stayed there was due to the "buy 4 get 3 free" promotion they were running at the time. However, I am not sure I could stay anywhere but a deluxe resort now. The rooms are so spacious and nice and being close to Magic Kingdom (again we spend most of our time there) was extremely convenient.

The bed size in Pop was two full beds and basically a typical cracke box hotel type room. In the Polynesian it was two queen beds. The bathroom was very big and then there was a whole seperate area with a couch and chair on the other side of the two beds. We did not feel cramped at all when we went in there for a rest.

I've stayed at all-star movie, but that was about 9 years ago now (holy cow...9 years ago!)

Anyway, we loved it.  Adored it.  Would so stay at the value resorts again.  We aren't fancy at all, and the value couldn't be compared at the time.  We stayed in the toy story section because we didn't have children at the time so I wanted to be a little far from the pool so we wouldn't hear all the kiddos.  Now that we have kiddos, I would probably try to stay in the dalmation section, but non-pool side so the pool and food court would be closer.

We really liked having the food court right there.  We chose not to take our own vehicle, we 100% used Disney transportation (bus from this resort).  The meals were obviously more expensive than, say, McDonalds, but were not too bad.  At the time they also had it so you buy a re-usable cup on day one of your trip and have endless refills.  That saved us a lot too.

We didn't find the waits bad, but we also had no children.  My view might be different with an antsy 4 year old, lol.  The one thing we did notice is for whatever reason, our lines moved a lot faster to leave after fire works than some of the other resorts at Disney (though by faster, still slow.  After fire works was insanely busy).

Just going to throw this out there, but we have gone a few times and stayed off site in kissimee at a rental house. The first night we are there we hit a grocery store other benefits are the private pool and hot tub. It is really nice to be able to get away a bit. With a house you can have the kid(s) in their own room for nap whatever and you can eat dinner and drink wine in the living room. We have always found it super easy to get in and out of the parks. Last year we scheduled one morning of princess for a day and that got us into the park early.

Just a thought!

Well I have stayed at all of them but I'm just crazy when it comes to Disney.  If you are looking for something cheaper value resorts are great.  Kids love them because of the big buildings and decorations.  They do have a good food court with selections that they love and as they said the re-usable cup saves a lot and is a great to bring the magic to your home.

Pop-Century is the newest one so there is always a lot of people.  When we are on a budget we usually goes to the All start music.

Port Orleans is a moderate resort that is beautiful.  I love the Caribbean Resort but that is just me ( I spent my honeymoon there).  Also in the same budget there is the Coronado Spring which have a great pool.

I have not stayed in the Boardwalk but they say is a great resort.  I went there to see it and the pool is just BEAUTIFUL.  But I think is a little pricey.

Just chiming in to say how jealous I am that you get to go!! It's my #1 thing I want to do right now.

Everyone gave you good advice, and IMO staying in the park, you really can't go wrong. You'll just want to look into travel times to the various parks and see which amenities you really need.

We stayed at Port Orleans last March and it was GREAT! The resort itself is beautiful, the food court was more than satisfactory, the pool was really nice, and the room was clean (although a bit basic). The Disney transportation was very convenient with the buses running frequently to each park. From what I have heard from others, it is the best of the "moderately" priced resorts. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you.  I am going to look into it further. It looks like the only thing that will work is to make some blankets, which I could do.  I just need to find out if I can do it in time and if it will work if we go multiple days to the park.

Right now this is the front runner.  We would love to stay at one of the deluxe resorts, but they start a little over $1,000 more. It's good to know that you liked it.

The part in red just made me wonder what ever happened to Becca.

Anyone heard from her?

Just on Facebook. I am pretty sure she cannot use computer at work. She does not post a ton on FB.
