seriously?  I can't understand how anyone thinks it is a good idea.

I was watching teen mom on MTV and some of the comments people are leaving are horrible.

(I would have hated anyone filming me in the months after Ivy was born...I didn't get anything done - much less when I was a teen mom w/ Andrew :bag)

my initial reaction was never.

However, I was thinking about teen mom.  I have no idea about their contracts, but I am assuming (hoping) they are getting paid at the end of filming the season.  If I was a teen mom and had no resources (I'm thinking 2 of the moms, Maci seems to have a good family support), I probably would.

Also, shows like a baby story or similar don't bother me.

However, big brother or survivor?  Never.  Ever.  If someone called me in to What not to wear?  Never, I'd really bum out the hosts.

So I guess my answer is it depends?  Nice and vague ;)

of all the crap that MTV has turned into the past decade - is there one, and i am only looking for an example of ONE, reality show on MTV that serves as a positive role model for teens/young adults???

is it worth it for these teen moms to make a little bit of cash (and i would bet a milion bucks their payment is MINimal to appear in a show) to have their life thrust in the public eye and have them trashed on blogs at a specific point of time when they are probably vulnerable and struggling and need support - HELL NO!

these teen reality shows are all about sex and dating (And more importantly dissing the other contestants). or spoiled rich 16 year olds which imo is not a positive role model either - it only shows how evil and selfish people with money can get...  i have not watched this teen mom (nor will i ever) but does it show teen parenting in a positive light?  are there wonderful success stories without any drama???  (i am guessing no as a nice boring positive show would not last more than a few minutes on mtv these days - but y'all can set me right if my impression is wrong)

i feel like this is such a huge contributing factor to the mess that is our youth of today - being disrespectful, selfish, lazy... ugh!

so far my big kids have zero interest in mtv, but if it gets to the point they do, if i could not put a parental lock on that channel, i will seriously consider disconnecting our satellite tv service.  i hate it that much and i dont want my teens to spend time being influened by that.

getting off my soapbox LOL... i would say say nothing could tempt me...but that is not entirely true... if i was an amazing chef i think i would have a ball being on top chef - especially if bertrand was a fellow contestant and we could compete against each other (we already do somewhat in the kitchen at home).  but you know, it would not be for the money nor would i ever care if it aired on tv- i just really love the thought of a friendly competition where we are given unique challenging challenges to create an a amazing dish - that's enough for me!

The only thing I could think of would be a Biggest Loser type of show or What Not to Wear. I wouldn't mind that. I don't think WNTW comes with a lot of fame and condemnation, kwim? And BL does seem to help people although I'm sure it is very different on the inside as far as what is going on.

But honestly, the answer is really no. I would HATE seeing myself on TV and most of the reality shows are JUNK and I would never want to be a part of that kind of crap.

I would totally do What not to Wear. I need a what not to wear done to me,lol.

That is about it.

I hate any reality show with kids. As far as the others go. I honestly think if you do not like it, do not watch it. I think the consumers have the power and the networks should not be our moral compass. I totally watch Big Brother and Bachelor shows. I know it is not real and I know they are adults that signed up for it. The other crap I do not care for, but that is me. If people were not watching then they would die out, but looks like people are addicted to reality TV.

I wish some shows like Cosby, Growing Pains, etc would come on that a family can watch together. I use to love Who's the Boss. Ok, that was random.

Hell to the no!

My neighbor tried to get our neighborhood to do one and they said that we all had to be home, not working for 2 weeks.

Ummm, no.

It turned out they did film it somewhere and it they built a wall around the neighborhood and made made it a competition and turned off your water and power and stuff and you had to boot people out.

Sooooooooooooooo glad we didn't do it.

I can honestly say I would never ever ever be on a reality show.  I have no interest what-so-ever of being on TV.

I was in the marching band is HS and would march in the NYC Columbus Day parade every year.  I played the Mellophone which looks like a large trumpet but sounds like a french horn (which is not stable enough to march with).  Every year, a camera man would always think it was an original idea to zoom in on me and then into the bell of my horn.  Every year I ended up in tears because I did not want to be on TV!  HATED IT!!

So there really is nothing you could offer me to be on a reality show.

This is me too. I would totally do Biggest Loser and What not to wear. I need a lot of help in both areas that those offer help in LOL! I might even give Survivor a try but more then anything just for the opportunity to try something like that you know? I do think many of the shows are junky some REALLY bad but I also agree with Melissa it's so easy to turn the channel that they don't bother me in the least, and at this time I don't have to worry about Hannah and Bryson being influenced by them so it's not an issue for me LOL. Now if Hannah starts wanting to watch Real Chance of Love 2 or something I might have to rethink this. Oh and I love The Bachelor/Bachelorette shows and Big Brother to me those people know what they signed up for and it's purely entertainment for me.

Couldn't pay me enough. My teenage DS thinks most of those shows on MTV are stupid. Entertaining(sometimes) but stupid.

Haha, I was just thinking that I would love to do Amazing Race but DH would never be up to it, he does not even like his picture being taken, let alone be on TV :)))  I would never ever do any other reality shows... not for any kind of money, no thanks, I love my privacy :)

OK I take my original answer back.

I downloaded a season of Amazing Race and Jack and Ryan and I watched it all weekend.

They are dying to do it and honestly, to have the experience with one of them I think I would.

Of course they'd have to be 10 years older and I'd have to be in great shape for a 50yo.
