it's getting a green dress tonight and i'll put green bows in the hair ties. just wanted to share - she has her hands on it already so we'll see how long it lasts!!
i'll post again in this thread when the dress is done :)
eta: here it is with the dress. i just snuck it out of her crib and i just returned it to her - lol.

SHUT UP. That is ADORABLE!!!! I can't even stand it!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see the green dress!!!!
i'm frustrated bc C wanted to sleep with it tongiht and i wasnt able to measure out for the dress. i'm winging it right now - i think it should be about right, but it wont be done tonight. definitely in the morning, bc i'm being completely OCD about finishing.
SO CUTE!!! I can see why she swiped it right away! I think I want to sleep with that too!
You are so creative and so talented, Kelly!
youre so sweet. these dolls are seriously not hard at all. i am shocked at how simple they are. just sort of tedious.
i edited the original post with the dress on. i was able to get it done tonight. i like how it came out, though the dress is a bit loose. i'll live though :)
So very cute! You could totally set up an esty shop, but don't really think you are wanting to do that.
yeah i dont think etsy is for me - but i do consider it on occasion. i think i'm going to continue making stuff like this and see what i decide to do with them.

You really should think about it.
You could pull in fat stacks.
Lots of people with shopping addictions have serious etsy addictions, too.
I just finished my first one last night- a cupcake but it looks like a demented pearl onion w/ a purple hat!
i'm sure it's great. can you post a pic?
Gimme a bit. I have to rescue it! LOL
I started an owl today. My mantra is "Kelly says its easy. I can do it."
you totally can do it. i'm doing these now - i bought the pattern: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=37277983&ref=sr_list_2&&ga_search_query=amigurumi+little+girl+dolls&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title

How cute!!
The bitch about doing the tiny ones is just working with something small. The owl is only 4 1/2" total and I'm only 12 rounds into so far and I stopped to get the eye roundies going. Oops! Can't have an owl w/o the eye roundies! LOL
I have two books that I bought myself for Christmas. One is Amigurumi! Seriously Cute Crochet by Ana Paula Rimoli @ Michael's for like $18. And the other is Amigurumi World: Super Cute Crochet Happy by Elisabeth Doherty. Her book is awesome b/c it has stretching and massage techniques for your hands. She works her patterns according to skill level too.
The first book is great b/c all the patterns start the first 5 rounds the same way and usually the 6th round is slightly different and the 7-12 round are all sc and then it goes from there. So far the owl has been super easy. The pattern is worked super tight so its hell on my joints but I'm taking breaks every hour.
Those dolls are just awesome! Amigurumi is so much damn fun! I happened across ages ago but was too afraid. I started one or two but never finished.
the hair is just looped through, but i'd love to redo it and knot it in. cara will NOT let me have it back though!!! i need to sneak it away one night. she hasnt put the thing down all day. i am doing a little doll now. it's almost done actually. i LOVE it. cant wait to post a pic (i'll post here).
no idea how i got the face looking non-evil -- it's a crapshoot with the faces, ita. i am hoping for the best with the one i'm doing now. havent started taht yet. i just finished the hair and am about to do a flowered hat. will keep you posted!!
eta: i might totally invest in some books - i'm falling for this craft hook line and sinker.

I'm glad I showed you the way! LOL
I got one eye roundy away with minimal cursing. Holy cow! It is three rounds with an F/5 hook and done super tight with the second round being 2 hdc in each sc. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I had to walk away before doing the second eye roundy.
The dolls are so adorable. Eventually I want to work my way up. I just keep thinking that if you can do it, I can do it. But you've had a head start on me b/c you already knew how to crochet. I on the other hand just walked into this a few months ago, put it down, started again and here I am.
I recommend the books. The two I mentioned have some awesome patterns and neat techniques. The first one I mentioned has a whole Mommy/Baby and Daddy/Baby set of amigurumi animals. To die for.
ETA- Completely random thought but I never noticed until now the odd pattern my face freckles have...

honestly this owl sounds harder than the dolls. these dolls are a cinch, and so were the bigger ones. and that's not bc i'm an old-time crocheter -- seriously there's only single crochet involved. that's it. anything i didnt know how to do, i just youtubed.
the hardest part is DEFINITELY the embroidered face. here's how the mini doll came out. i dont like the face. i couldnt get the eyes any better. R wanted them blue and i couldnt do it bc of the god forsaken pupils. i'm goign to do bead-eyes in the future. i could NOT get the mouth right. so this one is-what-it-is, and R loves it. i think on the whole it's cute, but again, i dont love the face. she's getting a flower on her hat today.
