We have two - both synced to the main home computer.  we found we don't need the bigger memory because we primarily use the streaming through the home wifi setup. (the first one was a surprise bday present for me last march)

super duper love them!!!!

bert spent weeks uploading ALL of his fave DVD's.  like over 200.  they used to be in boxes in our basement.  and we watch them so much more now.

and it is SO easy to buy a films on itunes and then watch it on either of our flatscreens.

it pretty much makes our DVD players obsolete - i have all the kids movies and tv shows in our itunes and clara is totally proficient at working the apple tv remote to watch whatever she wants.

and of course the itunes stuff is complimentary to our iphones.

have i mentioned i LOVE them?

(oh - we have TWO backups for our PC - bert has additional hard drives and we also use mozy online.  with so much in our itunes account, plus over 17,000 photos we want to be extra safe!)

Very cool!

I am going to cancel netflix now that we can get it all there.

Did you know there's an app that you can load that turns your iphone into a remote control for the apple tv?

Sometimes I feel like the future has arrived.

Like when I was a kid and thought about the future and all of us driving hover crafts.

I feel like apple is that crazy tech future I imagined. LOL

yeah - we have the app since near the beginning of our apple tv. - the one problem with a 4yo using that teeny white remote is that she tends to carry it around the house and half the time its not near the tv set.  her room is usually the first place i look to find it when "lost" LOL.  but in a pinch, the app works great!

That remote is SO getting lost in our house.

We should just buy extras right now.

Megan I'm sooooo sorry to ask you this again but what software do you use to transfer your DVD's to itunes?

You wrote out big, long instructions one time on old MS, and I c/p them over to this MS and I've been searching for 10 minutes and I can't find it.

Sorry, I promise I'll never ask you again.

bert is working late tonight - so i am not 100% sure but....

i believe he uses handbrake to convert.  http://handbrake.fr/  i see on the handbrake site the do apple tv support :)

and if the dvd is locked, he uses dvd43 (dvd-for-free) to unlock - so sometimes its a 2 stage process.  http://www.dvd43.com/  there are probably lots of other apps out there doing the same.

it does take time - so he would start it then walk away until it was done.

i have something similar.  it is not an apple, but made by archos.  best.thing.ever.  i LOVE not having to use dvd's anymore.  not having them laying around and worried about them getting scratched.  seriously, my favorite thing that i own.
