I need help. I bought this dining table & chairs off craigslist and it was in great shape.
Fast forward a few months and despite my not allowing the kids to sit on the fabric covered chairs - they are FILTHY already. (Milk spills, thrown food and yesterday when I wasn't home Mikey peed on one :puke: )
1. IDK what I was thinking buying fabric covered chairs.
2. How can I clean them without hiring someone to come out and do it for me?
Anyone have any ideas?
Also, I need to give the wood chairs and table legs a good cleaning. What's the best way to do that? (what kind of cleaner)
So far I've just been wiping it down with a dish soapy cloth and then a clean, wet cloth.
We used to have cloth covered chairs, and I cleaned them by spraying them with Spot Shot, and just wiping and blotting it. That actually did a pretty good job!
As for the wood, you can get some Murphy's oil soap; I'm pretty sure that will do the trick!
Well, this is what we do for a living, so not having the proper equipment can make it challenging.
I don't know what part of Chicago you're in, but there is a store called Jon-Don in Chicago that sells cleaning supplies to professionals. You can go there and ask for an spotter. A spotter, because then you shouldn't have to worry about rinsing and extracting. In my experience, these products really are much better than anything you can find on a grocery store shelf.
If you went with a regular upholstery cleaning product vs a spotter, you could spray it on, agitate, and then douse with water and use a wet vac to extract and vacuum them dry.
You can also buy a protectant that will help with future spills once everything is clean! I guess you could just call and tell them what you need and see what they say.
I covered my chair with a vinyl and it is so easy to clean. It was that or get rid of them. I only had fabric on the set bottom so it was easy to cover.
I bought these things called SmartSeat that I put over my chairs. They are waterproof, stain resistant fabric covers that I can throw in the wash when they are dirty. So much easier than trying to clean the stains off of fabric upholstery. Found them at http://www.pbjdiscoveries.com/. Good luck!
