I'm working on a presentation for our church called Vision 20/20 that will help our church grow in the next ten years in 6 key areas. The area I chose was our church home, Nativity, community, and regional/world with a strong emphasis on fellowship. I'm having a hard time finding any current statistics on exactly what percentage of people joined their churches for the fellowship. The point I'm trying to make is that if you bring a congregation together in a flurry of fellowship outside of the normal study groups you can build a stronger congregation that can better serve the community, country, and world as a congregational whole under God's word and love.

We chose our church because it was the only Catholic church in our town. Do I love it? Not so much. I prefer the church I grew up with, but that is not my parish and it's a 20 minute drive vs 3 minutes so.....I grew up with a fairly progressive Catholic church and this is much more traditional. (NOT like when I was in Boston,oh my, what a difference!!)
My church is pretty much the same, no matter which ward you are in anywhere in the world. The people are slightly different, of course, but the programs are generally the same. I grew up in my church but not in this ward or stake. I've stayed because no other church I've seen fulfills me the way mine does. Yes, I have issues with the imperfections of those in my church, but those would be in other churches, too. Never have I doubted that this is the right church for me.
i was raised catholic and live in my hometown, so that's still my church - i have tried other catholic churches in the area and they all seem basically the same.
It has a very good youth program and Allison loves Sunday school. It also has great adult forums and many ways to become involved if you want to.
It has great outreach programs.
It is very welcoming and everyone has been so great.
I love the father and he is very easy to relate to and speak to.
It has good diversity in terms of not just an older congregation. They try very hard to get the middle age active and involved. They have Tuesdays Together for dinner if you want. They have Thursdays that are people in their 20, 30's that get together for Wii, food, fun. They have a H.S. Group and then the younger kids have Christian Formation.
I wanted to raise my children with faith and expose them to church. It was important to me to find a place that I felt comfortable with and could also believe in. The Episcopal life is more fitting to my morals/values and belief system.
This is no way to be taken directly to anyone. My parents are practicing Catholics and I know every church is different. I just never felt a connection to my family church. I felt like I went through the motions and maybe because it is so large in size never felt like it was a comfortable place. That is what I was drawn to at my new church. It was inviting and warm.
