2 more couponing questions, LOL

1.  Do you aim for the lowest OOP price on an item when using a coupon, or the lowest per unit price?  For example, if you have a $1 off coupon for ketchup, do you buy the smallest/cheapest eligible size, or do you get the biggest, cheapest per ounce size so your ending price per ounce is even lower?  I'm just curious what different couponers prefer.

2.  Can you use Catalinas from one store chain at another chain?  I'm guessing no, since they say "Redeem at Albertsons" or whatever, but they are manufacturers' coupons.

1. i go for the lowest oop and buy multiples. for example, ken's dressing goes on sale for $1 all the time at my store in the summer (the smallest one)--paired with a .50/1 coupon doubled i can get it free. i don't remember the sale price of the larger bottle, but i know it is nowhere near free even with sale + coupon. i would rather buy 50 small free bottles.

2. yes and no. both of my local stores advertise that they accept comp. coupons so they will take them. my favorite store, shaws, does without blinking an eye. on the other hand, stop and shop usually does so begrudgingly and the cashier usually needs a manager for intervention. so, not worth the frustration for me. i think in this case, if a store doesn't want to accept one that says redeem only at X, it is really their call.

ditto #1.

#2 - none of my stores take competitor Qs, so no.  i wish they did.  some weeks, the deals are only at one store, but if i have a $5 oyno Q, i will go to the other store to buy milk, etc, with it.

for me it depends on if its a coupon i can only get one or two of vs. a lot.

If its a printable and I can only get one Ill go for the cheapest unit price.

If I can get more from a coupon site or something ill go with the free small ones
