Kuerig - again

I know people have talked about  this, but I need a recommendation. I have to buy one as a gift. Which one is the best one to get?

I know very little about them, but know a few of you love yours.

do you have a budget?

i have the classic which you can get from $80-100.

i wish i had the next one up - i think it's called the premier or something? Idr. that one has a setting for iced coffee and a bigger brew size too.

eta: if you find a good price, lmk b/c i need to buy one too.

i saw that the giant grocery stores in PA had them for $60, but they are no where near me.

I guess that depends on how much you want to spend and how much they like/drink coffee smile.gif
I have the special edition, and it's just fine for us.

I see the Platinum one that makes the ices is 169 at BBB. I wonder if that is cheapest I can find it? Anyone know?

I think they would like that feature, but I really do not want to spend the 180 with tax.

ok, now that I have looked at these I want  one.

I drink a lot of coffee though. Would it be too much?

What about the Tassimo? Is one better then the other. I see Tassimo offers Starbucks coffee for their machines.

Ok, so do I spend the extra bucks and get the one that does iced or do I just get the cheaper one. I am torn. It is for my Dad and he cannot make coffee and has talked about getting one. Right now they have a very expensive coffee maker and never use it because he just sucks at making coffee. I think this may be easy for him. He has mentioned it. It is this or the IPOD Nano for him and I just cannot decide.

Honestly, I have brewed coffee and put ice into it to make iced coffee with mine. I don't think the extra money is worth the 11.5 ounce size and iced option, but JMO.

I drink a cup or two a day. Love mine. With the 20% coupons at BB&B, it's atill way less than a coffee at DD and WAY less than at Starbucks.

perfect - that just made me decide. You are right on the ice cubes. I mean it is not hard to make iced coffee.

ok, I think I will get him that

Now for me. These have peaked my interest.

Anyone know or do research on Tassimo vs. Keurig?

I have not. This weekend I will go to Costco because they have the cheapest price.

I am not trying to figure out if this will be good for me or do I want the Tassimo machine. Will this be more expensive for me since I drink a lot of coffee?

I just read this comparison and it looks like I will go for myself with the Keurig. I like stronger coffee and good coffee and it appears the tassimo has crappy coffee.

melissa,

this blog has a pretty good post about making iced coffee with the platinum version versus others--it may help you decide.

I think you just sold me on the Kuerig.

I *only* drink iced coffee and when I looked into this, saw that it only made 3oz cups.  All I could think was "WTF??!!  3oz??".  I had NO IDEA it was concentrated so you could make a larger glass.  :bag

I like a VERY strong cup of coffee so I'm wondering if you were to make a regular glass of coffee (12-16oz I guess?), how watered down does it taste?  I know it also depends on what type of coffee you use, but I mean in general, compared to how strong it would be if you brewed it hot.
