Coupon exchange discussion and general coupon questions
Permalink

I was just going through my coupons for the coupon exchange and taking out some that have expired or that will expire in the next week or so.

I read some a bit more closely (9 of them), and they say "Save $2 when you buy ___________ AND Real Simple magazine." The coupons are for: Quilted Northern Ultra Plush, General Foods International, Uncle Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice, Truvia natural sweetener, M&M's Brand Premiums Chocolate Candies, Eucerin Calming Body Wash, Fruit2Day 2-pack, International Delight, and Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer 10 oz. I'm not going to put them in the coupon exchange but if someone buys or might want to buy a Real Simple magazine or more, I can send you the coupon/s.

Blinkie coupons - I tried to use a coupon for 50 cents off Mt. Olive pickles at my WM Neighborhood Market the other day (because it said DND) and they wouldn't take it because it was "another store's coupon". It doesn't have a store's name on it. I got it from a blinkie machine at Kroger but didn't want to use it there since it wouldn't double. Can I only use these at Kroger? Can I use them at Schnuck's (another grocery store) since they also have blinkie machines? I also got some that I thought I could mail in the coupon exchange but I won't if they won't work.

In the original coupon exchange thread, I didn't list any particular coupons. Since then, I've been studying my grocery lists more thoroughly to find items we use the most. I have a LOOOONG list now. Should I put it in that original thread? :D

One more thing, Glade coupons. I have (what I consider to be) a ton of Glade coupons. I have ZERO interest in using them so if someone needs them for a particular Wags or whatever deal, you can have them. Just lmk.

you can use a blinkie anywhere--walmart is just notoriously coupon unfriendly.

I remembered another question I was going to ask. Which magazine have you found has the MOST coupons?

Glen's grandmother offered me her last few month's Better Homes and Gardens, and they had some coupons.

Just curious. Thought I might ask my mom for a subscription for Christmas.

April - Do you still shop at Target often? I have several Target coupons but it seems like you just can't get as good a deal anywhere that doesn't double coupons.

robin, you can go ahead and send those glade q's to tracy.  tysm for offering them to me! heart.gif

i do shop at target.  they're good for stacking store & man q's.  tonight, for example, they had the krusteaz (sp?) boxed sugar cookie mixes 2/$3 - i had $1 off q's for each, so i got them for 50c.  i also stacked store & man q's for pepp farms crackers & cookies to get them all for less than $1 each.

sorry, that was my long answer to say YES!  what do you have?  popcorn.gif

I've just been cutting out ALL coupons in the inserts I get and the ones that my mom gives me, and there are usually some Target store coupons in there. I know I have some for different m&m's (premiums and all-one-color) and more. I already took them back to my bedroom or I'd look through them now. Not feeling well so if I go in my room, I'll be going to sleep instead of coming back to the computer. Tomorrow.

this is going to sound like a really dumb question, but how are coupons doubled and how do you know who doubles them?

I am doing small runs still and do not know how to do multiple transactions yet, so I am slowly starting. Like I got the Dawn dish soap free at CVS and stuff like that. I just do not know how many transactions I am allowed to do and htat.

it's mostly the grocery store chains that double.  the mass merchants like cvs, walgreens, target, etc do not.

what are your local grocery stores?

unless the Q says "one per customer" or "one coupon per transaction" they can't limit you.  check the fine print and then go at it!  :)

melissa,

some groceries double them. they take the loss on that amount. so if it were a .50 coupon at my grocery store, the manufacturer would pay the .50 then the store would take a loss on the other .50

if your store doubled, they would advertise so and on your receipt it would probably say something like coupon .50
double coupon .50

hth.

actually, my grocery store does limit them.

they will only double 6 of the same coupon and their policy is that they are allowed to limit any amount of coupons as they see fit. most of the stores in my chain just limit all coupons to 6 like, doubled or not.

wow, that's interesting!

dyk if cvs or wags limit?

that's what i was thinking of with her deal.

my grocery store just limits to 4 free items per transaction.  i've not had it be an issue for me yet.

Kroger is where I shop. So if I have two items and one coupon then they will double? I guess I do not understand? Does that mean multiple of the same coupon?

no.

if you have a Q for 50c off 1 box of kleenex, you buy 1 box of kleenex.  the manufacturer credits you 50c off for the Q (to the store directly) and the store matches it and gives you another 50c off.  so you get a total of $1 off for the box.

does that make sense?

and yes, kroger doubles - at least the one at my in-laws house does.

I do 85% of my grocery shopping at Kroger. My Kroger doubles coupons up to 60 cents. So if I have a coupon for 35 cents off of one package of Bounty paper towels, Kroger will take 70 cents off of my one package of paper towels. In the coupon section of your receipt, it will have on line that says something like Manufacturer Coupon -35, then the next line will say Kroger Plus Savings -35. If I had a coupon for 75 cents off of something, it would only take 75 cents off, and there would be no extra line under the coupon section.

Idk if my Kroger limits the number of same coupons, like if I bought 5 packages of paper towels and had 5 coupons. I've never had more than 5 of the same coupon in one transaction. I also asked the poor guy working the self-check the other day if my coupons were beeping because I had too many, and he said they didn't have a limit on total number of coupons. (But I think they do really; he just didn't know. 30 coupons per transaction, I think.)

Before I go to bed, I wanted to add that you can look up your Kroger's weekly ad at Kroger.com, and it should say at the bottom of the first page the amount to which your store doubles. Some lucky people's Krogers double up to $1, and some people even get times when they triple. Lucky, lucky, lucky.

robin,

many stores make it so self check out beeps once your coupons are $5+ total. it is just a fraud prevention measure so an associate knows to come over and make sure you put them all in the coupon slot.

i am pretty sure that at cvs and wags it is at the manager on duty's discretion.
