So my Grandpa is dying... any day. About a month ago he was given 2 months to live... and now the cancer is spread so much and so fast they say they don't know how he is alive at all.
My Mom just called and wants Luc and I to fly with her to Cali to go see him.... she wants to leave on Wen... as in this week. We don't have tickets yet. I'm in a fog. I don't know what I need to know. I flew with Lucas when he was 11 months old and that was way before all the rules about liquids and stuff. I'm so clueless. HELP!!! What do I need to know?
We are going to TRY and just take carry ons. Any tips about packing?
What about the car seat? Does that count as a checked bag? Do we have to pay to take it on? Does he sit in the car seat on the plane?

Do I need to take a stroller for him?
I am so sorry about your grandpa. As for the flying thing, take a deep breath and it will be fine.
The rule for liquids is 3 oz. (this includes things like toothpaste, deodorant, make up, etc.) If he needs/uses a sippy type cup, take it empty. Buy water or fill up the empty cup at the airport AFTER you go through security.
Also since you are buying Lucas a seat, he is allowed one "personal" item and one carry on. I usually pack a back pack and put my wallet and some chap stick in the front pocket. I use the rest of the pack to put some snacks and toys. The great thing about this age is you can pack little toys but things that roll (balls) are not good.
If you have to switch gates, and especially if the time it short, I would take a stroller. It's much faster and easier on you.
The car seat is generally a no charge check in and you will not need it on the plane. It is usually better to check the car seat up at the boarding gate, but sometimes it's just not worth the hassle and easier to just check it with the rest of your luggage.
In another bag you can pack your clothes for both of you.
