Well, I went to one walmart, a shopko and Fred Meyer with no luck. I have a friend that works at another shopko who said they have the accessories and they get shipments tomorrow. Will try and check then.
Thanks Juni! If your friend has one of the little beds in pink or really any color that would be great. I can save it for later if I don't get one for Christmas.

so - i had no idea what this was until i looked online.
i can get a white hamster in a light green bed/blanket and a grey one that is in what looks like a white gym bag with light blue blanket for the equivalent $15 each. (stuff in europe is always more expensive because they tack on 18% sales tax)
is this what you guys are talking about???
i see online there are plastic things to play in such as circles it can run in, but i cant find that in my stores...
so i am thinking of picking this up for the girls stocking stuffers if this is in fact the "hot" toy...
Megan, I think those sound right. Can you link a pic?
Melissa, I saw that too, i'm nowhere near a TRU :( Maybe I can get one online. I'm really just glad Han doesn't truly know what they are so if we don't get one she won't miss it LOL!

It is the hot toy here. I wanted one too for allie's stocking :( I may get lucky and find one. I would pick them up, but maybe they are not big over in Europe? Do big toy trends here in the US hit over there?
As Far as I can tell those are them! They are also called go go pets. I've heard pretty good reviews on them, I did hear that some younger children got the hamster wheel stuck in their hair I believe? Maybe it was actually the pet, I don't know i've just heard that on a couple of other boards I frequent. I think your girls would like them :)
That's what I want one for too Melissa, are you near a TRU? Sounds like you could get lucky if that's the case.
Also Megan, with the accessories those come with I think 15 is a good price. At Wal-Mart the hamsters are 8 I think and the accessories like the bed and stuff are 5 or more.

if i look at amazon/ebay in the UK/ireland one hamster alone is going for approx. USD 60-70. so they must be big over there.
france and germany sells them pretty much at the real price, but there is not a big selection.
imo - i think its more a parents obsession than the kids (cause like what 1 year old was begging for that damn rainbow porcupine a few years back, kwim?) and over here on the continent, they dont obsess over gifts like the americans and english do.

yup thats it then - they are marketed over here as "gogo hamsters" and they are sold through a company called character online.
eta this is the link to the UK company site - they are out of order for the moment but they are found on other sites.

total parent obsession. I mean I think most of the stuff is. the kids see a commercial and want it and the parents go above and beyond to get it. Allie is not begging for one, but a kid brought it to school yesterday and she thinks it is pretty cool. If I get one then I will put in her stocking then.

I'm totally close to a Toys R Us. If they get them in I will get some for you.
