Sorry I haven't been around much. Work has been a nightmare. I check the board every day or two but I haven't felt much like posting.

Anyway, we had Ethan's parent teacher conference this week. Our main question was if Ethan will be ready for kindergarten next year.

She said undoubtedly yes. He has already mastered the skills he needs to start kindergarten: letter and number recognition and writing his name. (Name is far from perfect but he's getting there and he has 9 months before kindergarten starts.)

Our concern was more social and emotional and she said he is fine there too. He is actually one of the better behaved children, especially during circle time. Ethan does not like to get in trouble. Snack time is right after circle time and whoever is the best behaved gets to help serve snack and Ethan loves helping. She also said he's full of energy (duh!) and is the fastest runner in the class.

So I guess Ethan will be in kindergarten next year. Really weird to think about now that it's confirmed. How did our babies get so big?!

that is great the he is doing so well, alyssa.  it is sad that he will be in K next year, and crazy to me!  i think mason will be too, but we will see.  i would prefer to hold him back, but efe wants to send him.

it's always good to hear that they are on track though, and it sounds like ethan is ready!

clap.gif for Ethan!  I am glad he is doing well and is a happy little boy.  I am not looking forward to the first day of kindergarten.  I am going to have to have a jumbo box of tissues. giggle.gif

will you guys be back here? I wonder if they will be in the same class? Two of our neighbors have kids starting next year too so at least he'll have a few kids he knows.

we don't know for sure.  we are toying with the idea of staying in amsterdam another year or moving to another country for one more year before we move back to the states.  also, efe really wants to move to a different city.  i would like to go back to indy, but it depends on what his firm offers us from each city.  cross your fingers that they make him the best offer in indy!  that would be so fun if they were in the same class!

YAY what a great thing to hear!!!!!!

I really cannot believe all of our tiny little babies are less then a year from being kindergarteners. I don't understand how this happened. :(
