My mom just sent this to me.

What do you guys think?

------------------

Will you please punctuate these correctly for me.  I can find rules to go several ways.

1)  "I see my dad.  He is in here. 'Hi dad'," she said.

2)  "Do you play with her?," she said.

in #1, did "she" say the whole thing? or just the "hi dad" part?

i think #2 is right.

I think the comma would come after the quotation marks, not inside it. But you know me. LOL

the first one doesn't make sense. the girl is talking out loud and says all of that? like, i'm imagining a 2 year old rambling and saying all of that. is that what it's supposed to be? if so, i'd write it like this:

1) "I see my dad. He is in here. 'Hi dad,'" she said.

for the second one, you leave out the comma after the ?. oh, and said doesn't really make sense there - maybe "asked" or "questioned."

2) "Do you play with her?" she said.
