Anybody good with sewing machines?

I am borrowing my mother-in-laws sewing machine and I don't know what I am doing. Can somebody look at these pictures and tell me what I am doing wrong? The first 2 are the back of the fabric and the second 2 are the front of the fabric. Thanks so much!

i don't think your machine is threaded correctly.

the needle thread may be backwards or something...i'm trying to remember exactly what that means.

i would try rethreading the needles and checking the tension on the thread

I was thinking the tension too.  Try adjusting it if re-threading doesn't work.  Also make sure your bobbin is in correctly.  Good luck.

Do you sew often? When was the last time you used it? Re-thread the bobbin as well as the needle, check you are using the right needle size for the material you are sewing (I don't think that's it), COULD be the tension, but it could also need to be serviced...
