IPOD or ITOUCH
Permalink

I do not have an IPHONE. I am trying to figure out if I want or need an ITOUCH or IPOD?

What should I get?

Opinions or suggestions?

That is what I am thinking.

I have verizon and not getting the IPHONE. So, I was leaning to getting an ITOUCH.

I think Kris bought one, right?

Worth it?

touch does pretty much everything the phone does - except make phone calls.  and to use the internet, you are limited to whenever you can find a "hot spot".   to choose between those - to me, depends on how often you think you will use the internet option.

ipod v. itouch - imo hands down the itouch.  i know the ipod can view videos and such but the touch is so great as an emergency "babysitter" - the screen is better and so easy for a child to navigate the touchscreen over the ipod.   i always have headphones in my purse and my touch is loaded with kids shows and films for clara.  but clara really love the kids games applications that i have put on my touch - i dont think you can put those on the ipod.  plus, having the internet access when near a hotspot is a big bonus to me.

I lobe my itouch. Love.

We use it as our extra computer. The video is amazing. It's great for games.

It's a little too easy to bring it to bed with you and check facebook during the night and first thing in the morning.

funny you ask this... just two days ago bert upgraded his old first gen iphone for the new 32g 3gs (colour me totally jealous... but his was super old and he deserves a new one)

just this morning, i took his old phone, without the SIM, and synced it up - the phone itself says "no sim" in the top left corner where you would usually see the signal strength.  but it synced just like normal - no problems at all.

i just uploaded a bunch of clara's TV shows, music and applications - it's totally pimped out for her now.  smile.gif

good timing as we are heading on a 2 hour plane ride to sicily tomorrow morning.  now i can put MY tv shows/music on my iphone.

I am just going to do the ITOUCH.

I would not mind an Iphone, but would have to change our service. We have been with verizon forever. I had thought I heard that when at&t contract ran out verizon was a possible, but that is no longer. Verizon is coming out with something the droid or something. I have to see what that is. Honestly, for me I hate adding more money to my phone bill. How much is the Iphones monthly package for the service?

Melissa, do the Ipod Touch - you won't regret it.

I'm dying for an IPhone, but we're Verizon users too. I keeping hoping and hoping that AT&T contract with them winds up, and it becomes available for other carriers.

I did buy one and I really like it.

I have a movie on it for emergencies (when I need to keep the kids entertained) but other than that I try not to let them touch it!!!

I am getting one for my oldest son for x-mas.  He can play games (which he really likes), surf you tube, check facebook while at home.

I was checking them out on amazon and I saw a 3rd gen for the same price as a 2nd gen.  I didn't research the changes that were made b/w the 2nd and 3rd.

I am hoping for this too.  I won't switch to AT&T for a phone, no matter how good it is.  Mandy has AT&T and she gets cut off CONSTANTLY.  Maybe AT&T is great in some ways, but frankly, their service sucks in comparison to Verizon, at least in our area.  If Verizon was able to one day get the iPhone, I would get one in a heartbeat.

Melissa, I am very interested to see what you think about the touch-I have been thinking a lot about getting one!!!

So muffy, do you think If I buy an IPhone and just dont get the contract I can use it for EVERYTHING but the calls. I could care less about it being a phone.

the itouch looks great but theres no camera so if i could still do videos and wi fi on it I would totally buy an iphone

Tracy - I was just asking hubby and he is pretty sure when you buy the bundle from AT& T they will not allow you to just buy the phone without a date package.

nope.

they direct you through at&t.

the data plans are an add-on for the phone plans, so you definitely can't buy it without the phone option.

Well, the good news on that end is that the contract between AT&T and Apple is only good through 2009.

I'm hoping they don't renew, but knowing my luck, they will. Buuut, if they don't, I'll be selling a limb to get an IPhone, lol.

sadly, you can't buy an iphone without a contract attached.

in the old days, with the first generation iphones, you could buy them by themselves, then all you had to do was buy an unlocking program off of ebay and unlock it. (apple no longer guarantees your phone if you did that - so if it broke in any way you were shit outta luck).  that is what bertrand when they very first came out - got one in the US (they werent even available in europe at that point) and spent like 10 bucks on ebay to buy the unlocking code.

apparently, that was so popular, they no longer let you buy iphones at all without a contract attached.  boo.
