Ugh, so over this, but have a few opinions.

Every dang thing in life can cause a reaction in a person. Every drug, food, environmental issues, etc.

A kid could eat peanut products and die. I mean in reality it is created to help the majority. I know some do not believe in these types of vaccines, but they have proven to help here. I mean if you look back in history of the number of people who died from very common illnesses and those illnesses either became nonexistant or lower.

Anyway, I have a hard time with the issue of saying it was not reported. There are a lot of variables that go into it. You cannot just report that a child had a seizure without running tests and figuring out what caused it. Could this child have had something else going on? Just so many things that can effect the results. So, I would imagine that if in fact it was caused by this vaccine. If I was the parent I would press to have the Dr. investigate. So, if we just went with every parent who said my child did or had xyz after the shot then it would not be very sound.

The red: I used to believe this, but the more I read, the more I doubt it.  Most of the vaccine-preventable illnesses like polio and measles were already dropping off significantly before the vaccines were introduced, due to better sanitation and nutrition.

The blue: It's important to report any adverse effect because if a pattern emerges, it becomes evident that it could be a side effect of the vaccine.  That's why the database was set up.  If 10% of all kids who have a certain vaccine have a seizure the next day, the only way the CDC and vaccine manufacturers will know about it is if it is reported - even if it seems coincidental.

Oh. I totally agree on reporting it. In fact I hope they did report it.

One of my bff's kids had a febrile seizure as a result of the H1N1 just last week. Picked up by the ambulance, spent 3 days in the hospital. They didnt think it was H1N1 because it wasnt exactly the same symptoms. After testing for everything else, guess what. H1N1. So, idk. Im not saying the vaccine didnt cause it, Im just saying there are other possibilities, one of which being that they were already exposed/sick.

And Amber, I think your perspective is really interesting and compelling. If only I could a) find the vaccines, and b) get my kids well enough to get it.

I'm so sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying.  And I can't find an appropriate emoticon for being embarrassed, so I'll just use this one sunnysideup.gif

And I don't know why the colors didn't come out in my response either, so I probably confused the hell out of everyone by saying The red: and The blue:

No, no worries. It was kind of confusing.

Ya know, I honestly am sick over the fact that our country still has mercury and other chemicals in our vaccines. I mean I do not know what to do. I also believe vaccines are good. So, I wish someone would go after this topic and find a way to keep our kids safe.

It is scary stuff.
