So sorry, Supa.

I hope she gets some rest and to feeling better. Have you at least gave her some motrin/tylenol now?

Bryce complained about his head and body aches so I know those medicines will help ease some of their discomfort. Bryce's fever wasn't that severe. Keegan fluctuated from 101-103 for just over 2 days before he finally knocked it. But I will say I think the Tamiflu helped both of them tremondously. Though Keegan spit half of his back up especially when he was feverish.

Thanks Sara.  I am sorry you know what it is like to deal with!!

I did give her some tylenol before rest.  Hopefully it will help her settle in and get some sleep, we'll see.  Neither of mine have complained about their heads or any aches-Bill has though.  He said his head hurts and has been for a couple of days, and he has been achy and all that.

Anna's was more like you are describing.  Her fever was lower, but lasted a number of days.  Kate is already at the 2 day mark here and isn't handling it as well as Anna did, it seems.  Had we caught this right away, I probably would have done the Tamilfu, BUT based on how they are prescribing it here, they probably wouldn't have offered it since when this first presented, both of them had low fevers.

IDK-so many variables, so much worry.  For now I am just keeping a close eye on her.

They had me alternating tylenol and motrin with Keegan every 3 hrs until his fever broke.  With the meds in him his fever never went below 101 until the day it spiked to 103 then a couple hours later completely broke and he was fever free from that point on.

So, if Kate is like Keegan it might be possible that might be the last of the high fever. fingers crossed!

I'm tired of quoting, lol

They're not testing down here either Supa, too expensive.

But it's weird how the virus is acting differently across the country symptom wise..know what I mean?

Which has my medical mind wondering if it's the same strain..and since they're not really confirming all of them we'll never know

ETA: Laura don't forget you can stick Kate in a lukewarm bath too and that will cool her down

Jenn, it seems like the ones I know with it here have all been getting a high fever and it comes on fast.  So who knows what is what at this point.  I just know that I hope no more of our sweeties, young or old, get this and those that have it are well soon.

So sorry she's got it cry High fever suck!  SG runs those kinds of fevers when her kidney reflux is acting up and it's scary!

Hopefully Anna, you or Bill won't get it!

Well, Anna had it and Bill has it, lol.  I felt like crap on Tuesday-felt like I had the flu, but never ran a temp, and now I am feeling ok, so we'll see about me.

The high fevers are definitely scary!  Thankfully it is now staying in the 101 range.

Anna was tested too?  I missed that..

No she wasn't tested-but aside from the severity of the fever, her symptoms were the same as Kate's, as are Bill's (except he is also achy and has chills), and from talking to a few other moms at the school, their sick kids presented the same way as well.  So the pedi said that he would bet money that Anna had had the same thing.

They told me the fevers they have been seeing with this haven't been all that high.  Kate's is the highest they have had, which is why they wanted to get her right in.

:dunno:

Well then it's totally different down here, because they've all had high fevers, exactly like Kate's

Which I knew when Kenley's fever never got higher than 101.6 that it wasn't the flu..  and it wasn't, it's just a virus according to her lab work.

Which makes me wonder...down here, the fevers are high, typical of the flu..but they're telling you that the fevers haven't been that high

So is it the same dang H1N1?

Fevers are high here. They go 24 hrs without and then spikes up high again. On average most kids have been out a week.

LOL-I get tired of the quotes too!!

It is really strange that different areas are seeing different symptoms.  Most of the kids I have seen that have gotten sick here have the same symptoms as my kids, in fact a number of people have not automatically thought flu, like us.  It is a strange thing-so if it isn't the same strain, or the strain is mutating or what have you, what good is a vax going to be anyway???  I mean, the mom I had talked to (who is pregnant with her third) said her kids had already had the vax, and when I saw her yesterday morning, her son had the exact same symptoms as my kids had had.  And they had their first dose like a month ago.

Anyway-we are supposed to take a bath tonight anyway, so I will definitely do that for her. Right now she is asleep, thankfully!
