Sorry if I'm double-posting. I just came back to look for this thread that I thought I posted earlier and it wasn't here.
Is anyone making toys or other stuff for your kids this year?
I got a plywood bean bag toss board from work because no one was using it. I'm going to paint it and give it to my kids for Christmas. I started making the bean bags last year before Christmas and never finished. Hopefully since I already have the board and just need to paint it, I'll actually get it done.
What are you making, if anything? Have you started?
We are doing a home made Christmas for Doug's side of the family but I am not really donig much for my own kiddos. I am going to make them each a nice no sew blanket because Gavin wanted one and they are super easy and cheap. That will be cool!
I am working on wall hangings, soaps and a few other things for the adults and my husband is doing these cool emergency kits for the guys. :) The bean bag thing sounds cool!
I am not exactly thinking about making presents, but am a year behind the craze and may make an advent calendar. I still haven't decided. I am also tempted to just buy a wooden one and turn my efforts to buying things to fill it with things other than candy.
I always make cookies as gifts for certain people/relatives.
I also was thinking of making a collage of family/friend pictures for Ethan to hang in his room. I think he'll love that.
And along those lines, we usually order photo books for the grandparents. I really want to order a book for us of pictures of Ethan from newborn to age 4--I have almost no printed pictures except what is in frames around the house and I always put it off. They always offer discounts on the books around the holidays so I'm hoping to do it then but it's going to be a huge project. I have THOUSANDS of photos on many, many disks. Let's see if I follow through. This would be a gift to EJ (and myself).
Some of the gifts we give at christmas are always handmade by me. Daniel wouldn't want anything I might could make for him LOL but I'm considering trying to do a couple toys for Rayleigh...if I have time between now and then...if not she'll probably get something for her birthday in january
So I found some rubix cubes in the dollar section at Michaels last night and I am going to cut out pictures and put them on the squares. I saw it online and it looked super cute so I am going to try that.
nothing over here. i'm low on ideas. i was going to do clothespin dollies for the tree though, i have to get on that, and i still like the idea of papier mache balls for the tree -- maybe i'll get busy on that... but as for gifts, prob not. i'm teaching a new class starting in jan, and i REALLY need to do a ton of work for that and put crafts on hold for a bit.
