DH and I have bought candy every year for the 8 years we have been married but have NEVER had a TOTer. Our first two years we lived in an apt complex but the part we lived in was 1 bedrooms so I'm guessing that's why... no kids. Now we live in a 90% hispanic area and I don't know if it a culture thing or not but I never see anyone TOTing in our neighborhood and only 2 homes have decorations up (ours being one) so we always go somewhere else to go ToTing... usually we go with friends around their neighborhood. I'm not sure where we are going this year... since it is a Saturday we might just to ToTing to all the grandparents houses.

Never tot in my own neighborhood. As a child we lived in the country so we had to go to the city to tot. When Stephen was 3 or so we started tot in my brother's neighborhood. My brother goes all out for Halloween and a lot of my family ends up there. Now that Stephen doesn't tot he dresses up to play a part in the show and Raven tot with her cousins. I'm to lazy to tot in the high priced neighborhoods because the houses are far apart.

We are only planning to go to couple houses in our neighborhood because the houses are really far apart and it would take Christopher a good hour to go to 6 houses.  Last year we went to a residential neighborhood nearby where the houses are close together so it's easier for kids to TOT. We plan to do the same this year. We'll be hooking up with some of Christopher's friends there are they'll TOT together, it's more fun that way. We usually leave a bowl full of candy on our doorstep in case kids come over but we've never had anyone come over because of the reason mentioned above.

I could care less who comes over for TOT, I don't have a problem with kids coming from other neighborhoods.  And no, we don't go to houses where lights are turned off.

We usually go in the neighborhood we live in, but for Meghan's first year, we just did the mall TOTing since it was freezing out and she was so young.

I have no problem AT ALL with kids coming from other neighborhoods!  In fact, when we lived in the condo complex, you would see the line of cars pull up on the main street.  The kids loved that they could hit up so many homes so quickly.

Can you believe I never knew about the whole "lights on" thing until someone mentioned it here a couple years ago?  I guess I never went to houses that looked dark, but I never really paid attention to the porch light (I more looked for lights on inside the house... if it looked like you were home, your doorbell was getting rung LOL *bag*).

We've lived in the country for now, 5 Octobers. The first year we lived here,  there were a couple of girls walking their horses down the street, and I chased them down so I could give them some stuff. The smallest parcels are 5 acres, so no one TOT. We always gave out candy before living here.

Last year we went to my In-Laws on the coast out of L.A. They live in a rich! neighborhood. Pacific Palisades, Lots of people gave out big candy bars, little toys...
Andrew was so thrilled. He didn't know what to do really. He thought about EVERY, SINGLE piece of candy he was offered. It took FOREVER! But it was a blast. He's so pumped up to get this year, but just a few days ago, DH's parents decided that each other one was too crazy for company. They are wacked!!! Haven't really broken it to Andrew yet.

I don't care much about people riving from other places to TOT, but hate it when they are older teens with no costume. I had bought Glow in the Dark bouncy balls and Halloween whistles from OTC to give out this year at the IN-LAWs, but don't think they'll get used this year.

i live on a crappy street for T-O-Ting. it's windy with no sidewalks, and the houses are far apart.  no one ever comes here. we always go to a different neighborhood.
