Oh, and Hannah's teachers at her other school are new and I don't know them very well. I think they are getting cupcakes (baked and contained in tiny mason jars), coffee mugs with cupcakes on them, and sample size coffee (in a coordinating flavor to whatever cupcakes I make.)

leah, if you don't mind, will you share the info for the cupcakes in the jars?  i've been wanting to try that and i'd love to see how you do it.  tia!

It's pretty basic, and this is a pretty good tutorial... use can use your favorite recipe or box mix (for more original recipes, I go here.) I think it's really cool, unique and unexpected - but you know I'm a cupcake ho.

So as far as home baked goodies - what are you guys doing?

I get circular tins at the dollar store - usually they are christmas themed - and this is what I have so far:

Chocolate covered pretzel rods with christmas sprinkles.

Sugar cookies with frosting (it's my grandma's recipe and they are seriously the best cookies in the world!!!)

Maybe rice krispie treats, not sure on this one.

Puppy chow - I think it's chex cereal with peanut butter, choclate and powdered sugar. It's way good but I don't have the recipe memorized.

I'd love some easy/fun ideas either to go with that or instead of.

Travis will make some cookies from scratch I'm sure.  I will make the pretzels with the hershey kiss melted on top.  Honestly, not much else.  We'll make decent size batches of both and use them for lots of different people.

Does anybody do something for the kids in the class?

For halloween (they had their party today) Gavin and I did little halloween paper bags and put little activity books, pencils, a stencil thing, eraser and candy (very little candy) in it. We actually did it on the super cheap but they looked really cute and we did one with some extra stuff for his teacher.

I am thinking about doing something like that for christmas too but with some sugar cookies or something like that in there.

Anybody else do something like this? any ideas?

at R's school we have signups for what we want to contribute to the parties - i snagged "apple juice" for halloween (lmao) bc everyone is so strict about baked goods.
i might do cupcakes for the christmas party if i'm feeling ambitious.  but there isnt a ton of room for creativity given allergies and whatnot.

Koda's school limits what can be brought in.  There is a sign-up for holiday parties.  Two families bring in a snack, one a drink, and one a non-food treat.  We did non-food treat this halloween and did similar to you but without candy.  Another family will sign up to do the same at the holidays since all 21 families contribute about once for a party over the year.

LMAO, for Koda's party I avoided snack like the plague.  There was a note that said "be mindful of peanut, gluten, and dairy allergies in the class".  Ummmm...that leaves????

I give gift cards.

I've done grocery store, movie money, book store...

I try to do something different but still useful.

If a teacher leaves, I give her around 20 or 25$ card. If I have to give to all the teachers (like christmas, etc - both kids have 3 teachers in each room - Charlie will have four in january), I have to keep it around $15. Still pricy though. But their teachers are simply fantastic and I have no idea how they do it.

ditto on this from us.  emily has a teacher and an assistant and 2 aids.  ugh.  that gets pricey (any input from anyone on if i can give different values or do i need to make them all the same?).

i also include something homemade inside something inexpensive.  last year i found some inexpensive oversized holiday coffee mugs (think HUGE).  i bagged up 2 different kinds of cookies and then added a bag of homemade chocolate covered pretzels.

i made them cards using a picture of emily on the front.  she signed her name and i wrote a note inside thanking them and i usually use the adage of "it takes a village to raise a child" in my cards.

the teachers were really grateful for the gifts i sent in.  i really think as long as there is thought behind it, they will be thrilled.

April when I was teaching people did various things.  Sometimes the teachers would get one thing and the aids another.  When I co-taught, sometimes the regular ed teacher was the only one that got anything.  Another idea that you could do that I am sure would be appreciated is to do a group gift of cookies or whatever.  I am not sure how you could manage it or if you could have it delivered it but it might be cheaper to give them breakfast one morning (bagels, muffins, etc from somewhere yummy).

I was thinking about doing the pretzel cookie things that all of MS was making last year. The one where you put a kiss (or hug) in the middle of a pretzel, melt and push in an M&M.

ETA: Should have kept reading and I would have seen that someone already mentioned.

I remember hearing at Luc's open house that the kids have 2 parties a year, one for Christmas and one at the end of the year. I'm not sure what they do for Christmas and if we are allowed to bring or anything like that. I guess we won't hear about that for a little while.

That sounds like a cute idea that you did for Halloween.
