I am just curious.

For those who do, are you gamers?  Or did you get the Wii for different reasons?  Would people who are traditionally not gamers like this system? (I am thinking more along the lines of the WiiFit and things like that-but not sure that spending $200 for the system plus everything for the WiiFit is worth it, kwim?)

We didn't get each other birthday gifts, and we have so much to do on the house, but want to get a gift for both of us for Christmas.  I was wondering if this might be a good thing to get, but we really aren't gamers.  Bill has a PS2, but he rarely ever used it, and is now getting ready to donate the system, driving stuff and all his games because he just doesn't care about it.  So not sure that another game system is worth it unless it offers something different than the PS and Xbox systems.

I would love input!!!  TIA!!

Stephen and Ray are both gamers and don't want a WII. They both have an xbox 360 and ps2. PS2 still gets played a lot since there are so many games for it. They thought the ps3 sucked so they didn't upgrade. We are getting a WII for myself and Raven. I think it is better for young kids and I want it for the exercise. I'm definitely not a gamer.

we have one. the kids play it. i have to say over the summer it wasn't played as much as we were outdoors more. the last 2 weeks it has started to get played a lot more. last winter we would have what we called, "wii family time" and come down and play a game after supper was cleaned up before baths.

i am sure we will start that again with winter coming.

i used to have one and sold it. But it was before they had any real games for it. It was just like wii sports and that got old after a while. If I knew it was going to expand with wheels and wii fits and most other games that are on other systems we would have kept it.

We are gamers- but not so much now that we have the kids.

I LOVE the Wii. I love how physical a lot of the games are. We tend to buy games that require more physical action versus the traditional sit down games. I LOVE my Wii Fit. It is awesome. I do yoga, aerobics, and some strength training for an hour a day as many days a week as I can. I love it. It is worth the money. You can hook it up to the internet and buy a Wii points card and download the old school Nintendo games. We have several.

ETA- About the Wii Fit- They have the Wii Fit Plus now too- so those with the Wii Fit can just buy the software which will add more exercises and a new training mode. But, Supa, I love the Wii Fit. I hate going to the gym. I don't have the money to go. So the $90 I shelled out for the gym saved me the $60/mo membership I would have wasted at like Lady's Fitness Express or some place like that. All I have to do is pop in the game and go. And Colin does it with me too. He uses a pillow as his Wii Fit board and we exercise together. I do it at night before bed. I do it in the afternoon when the kids are resting. Its really worth the money. And I will tell anyone that. I love that I don't have to exercise in public. The harder I work, the more I unlock. The scale is built into the board and, as long as the batteries are fresh, is very accurate. It has always been within 2lbs.
The balance games are fun and good for working on your balance. Colin loves them too. And there are more and more games coming out for kids. As well as games to incorporate the Wii Fit board (such as Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics) into the game play.
The Wii Fit, I believe, helped me lose the last 16lbs of baby weight. I now weigh what I did when I walked into my pregnancy with Colin. The trainers show you how to do the exercises and then you do them. The balance board records your balance, etc and shows you where to improve your workout.
I do Yoga a lot. I use it to warm-up and stretch. And then I move into aerobics and then yoga to cool down.
Again- I sing its praises and HIGHLY recommend it.

I am not much of a gamer, but we have a Wii and my boys LOVE it. When the weather is bad, they are inside playing the Wii. It can keep them entertained for hours.

DH actually got me a Wii Fit last Christmas, and to be honest, I haven't used it after the first week. I found it fun initially, but it wasn't really my cup of tea as an exercise routine. However, I do know some people who swear by it. And like Jennie mentioned, there are a bunch of new games for the Fit. I'd say go for it!

We're big gamers, so we have one.

But most everyone we know loves to play it - even my mom bugs me to turn on the Wii Fit or Wii Sports when she's here, and she barely knows how to operate a microwave.

I think your whole family would really like it, it's just a matter of finding the kind of games you enjoy.

we love our Wii!! the best workouts I get are on Wii fit.  the boys love to play guitar hero and wii sports.  I think is a great console because you get to exercise while you play.

I am not a gamer either, but my mom just got the Wii Fit package and she LOVES it. She uses it at least twice a day and is definitely seeing results from it. Its easier than having to go to the gym and its fun. The Wii comes with sporting games (bowling, tennis, baseball,  boxing, and golf) and then the Fit has TONS of activites from yoga to aerobics to cycling....its really more fun than you would think. Anyway if you are considering it at all, I would say go for it. I am thinking about getting the Wii for my family for Christmas. I know it would get used alot and we could play it as a family.

Fwiw, Aubrey rocks at the bowling game...she loves it and its super easy. : )

We don't have one. We've played at my brothers house but don't want it for us.

I'm sure the kids will get into video games at some point but right now, I really don't want the extra screen time for them.

I'm hoping to delay that as long as possible.

As for us, I spend to much time on the computer and on the tv as it is. I don't need more of that.

But it is a lot of fun and we like it when we play at my bro's house.
