I'm about the same size I was at 14 weeks with Charlie. Am convinced I have gotten my dates wrong, and am in for a scan on 16th (Friday) to confim a date.
Does anyone know anything about twins? Des has twin sisters, as does my grandmother - I know they say it skips a generation, and I recall for some reason being told twins come from fathers side when I was pregnant with Charlie....
I am going out of my mind! I wouldn't be devestated to have twins, just worried that it would be a BIG shock to our systems!!
I am so much more nauseous than I was before, and exhausted, neither of which I recall being last time!
I don't know anything about twins but I got bigger quicker the second time around. How far do you think you are? I think it's great to get an ultrasound just to see what is going on in there.

Definitely get bigger faster the second time. I was in maternity pants by 10 weeks with Kate whereas it was more like midway with Anna. I didn't gain more overall-just got bigger in the beginning.
As for twins, fraternals are genetic on the mom's side, and the chances also increase with the mother's age. (fathers have nothing to do with how many eggs a woman pops out, kwim? So fraternals have nothing to do with dad. The age factor doesn't apply to you!)
I have been told that identicals are just a fluke, but I really don't know, nor do I think anyone else does!! I have a friend who had identicals who was in her mid 20s and there weren't any twins anywhere in either family, so who knows where they came from.
You definitely need to have an u/s!
ETA-my symptoms the second time were COMPLETELY different. I had mild nausea with Anna from time to time, but with Kate I felt like utter crap for half of the pregnancy-it SUCKED.

fraternal twinning comes from the mother - the woman hyperovulates and releases more than one egg. it is possible that YOUR father passed down this hyper ovulation trait - but if you have twins it wont be from Des because guys release millions of sperm with each ejaculation...
in identical twinning, where the single zygote splits, that is pretty much purely due to environmental factors, nothing genetic.
you will get bigger with subsequent pregnancies, and given you dont know precisely how far along you are, i bet there is only one in there.
i was way bigger the second time, but my symptoms were the same (i dont think there was any way i could have felt "sicker" lol). good luck - only a u/s will tell. you would have thought *on* of us would have twins by now, right?!
