Ideas for extra $
Permalink

I just need ideas what I could do to make extra money on the side.  Money is just so filthy tight here right now with the 10% paycut we had to take through the sucky economy, once it picks up it will go back to original pay.  So with that loss we are living paycheck to paycheck right now, we can get by paying everything just dont have money for more fun and savings, plus my cousin who was our roommate for last 6 months is moving out she bought a condo.  Her rent was helping a whole lot.  So now I'm freaking out, we still don't want me to work during the day out of the home because of cost of daycare and would rather me take care of them unless one of our relatives wasnt working but thats not the case.  So, Ive thought about doing some sewing, crafts, etc to sell... I can def do it if I wanted to but I don't know I am just trying to brainstorm on what I can do to get extra $$.  I dont trust anything from "work from home"  too much scams and stuff for me that I'd pronbably have an anxiety attack from it alone! LOL So what do you sahm do to get extra money.. it doesnt have to be a whole lot but at least a few hundred a month to get by at least for savings and some fun especially with the holidays coming up.  We arent worried about gifts or anything like that.  Just want to be comfortable.

Thanks for any input.  I am just trying to not come off as depressed or whatever... I know alot of people are going through tough times too so I know I'm not alone but I would love to help get some $ in.  I am trying trying to think positive smile It's not the end of the world ya know??

I was babysitting for 4 years but recently stopped as theyre going to school now.  So that hurt our income as well.  Have to find someone with little kids who needs care but not having much luck.  I'm not comfortable with strangers either, usually it's through a grapevine that I get to babysit someones kid which is fine just not a complete stranger.

I did think about house cleaning but I did that for 1 and a half years and i hated it LOL Sure I would do it if I really had to... but I think I'm DONE with "cleaning", again I would do it if that was the last resort but for the time being, no thank you! LOL

Thanks for the ideas.

You could also check with some local gyms, ymca's, and other fitness type places and find out if they had anything open for evenings, including child care there.

One benefit of working part time somewhere that you frequent is that you will also receive a discount.  Working at a department store (Target/Walmart/Kohls, etc) might help make your money go a little further.

You can also do a deep cleaning and start selling things you don't need anymore.

Great ideas!

re: deep cleaning, thats actually what we are starting to do....going through the boxes in the garage we were supposed to have a garage sale this summer but ended up gettin too busy that we didnt have one after all.  So we have a whole bunch of baby clothes that we need to get rid of.  I already sold the crib and swing.  Just a whole bunch of baby clothes...way too much actually LOL  So we will probably list some of them and sell it for fast cash.

couponing;)

ummm, i know you didn't like house cleaning, but have you thought about cleaning offices? i do that for 3 hours/night 4 nights per week and really don't mind it at all. it isn't as gross as houses because other than the bathroom, it is mostly vacuuming, dusting computers, wiping out the microwave, etc. you don't get stuck scrubbing tubs like you would with a house.

Not a bad idea either on offices! :)  Thats why I hate cleaning houses, the bathroom/tub are the worst!!! I dont mind kitchen and other rooms but bathrooms are the worst! Eh

I am doing couponing just not hardcore which I probably should though... it's just so overwhelming for me I don't get what I can get multiples of and singles only of...etc
