and highly recommend it. It is a memoir about an Italian-American woman starting her life and planning her wedding with her Chinese-American boyfriend, and how the combining of households and menus is a challenge.
It includes a few recipes, and is very well written and makes the reader want to eat, and cook.
And the author happens to be an old friend of mine. :) I had lost touch with her after high school until I found her on Facebook. I was good friends in high school with her and her sister, who figures prominently in the book. When she writes about things that her mother and sister said, I can hear their voices and it makes me miss them so much!
(Long story, but we went to the same high school in NJ. Her sister and I were in the same class and were acquaintances in the same large circle of friends, and Michelle, the author, was a year ahead of us. Completely coincidentally, they ended up moving to Raleigh a couple of months after my family did, and we went to the same high school there! So the three of us hung out all the time, and our mothers became close as well. They didn't even live in Raleigh for a whole year, and we all graduated from our high school in NJ. I will always have a special place in my heart for Michelle, Maria, and their mom for making that time bearable!)
So anyway...great book and a light, easy read!
