has anyone washed a PBK backpack?

so i was noticing tonight that em's backpack is pretty skeevy on the bottom.

dyt i can throw that in my washer on the handwash cycle and let it air dry?

That's a tough call.  Can you call their customer service line and ask them?  Even if they say no, though, I don't know if I would take it as a definite "no" iykwim.  They may just be covering their @ss. 

Is it really bad?  Or is it something that a toothbrush (or bigger scrubby brush) and some detergent could take care of?

their website says to spot treat.

the whole bottom 1/3 of the bag has the dark black funk all over it.

i think i'm going to do it handwash cycle in cold water for a "quick" cycle and see what happens.

I would think that kind of cycle would be fine.  They're kids backpacks so they should be built to get beat up a bit, right?  Good luck!
