I have to admit I am a long-time fan of David Letterman, and I still am. Strangely, I was watching the episode during which he confessed but I missed it. I was half asleep, and when I heard that the guest was Woody Harrelson--is that his name?--I thought "Ick" and turned off the TV. I was already lying in bed with the lights out.
I like the fact that he wouldn't let someone blackmail him, and I applaud him for owning up to his past and asking for forgiveness. Plus I think it's refreshing that he can laugh at himself. And that he apologized to all the people involved, including his coworkers and his wife, right on his show in front of everybody. (I think he even apologized to Sarah Palin but again I wasn't paying that close attention.)
My mom HATES Dave. She was going on and on the other day about how he is always making fun of other people, and now he is getting what's coming to him. Imo, making fun of other people is his job.
I don't know all the details but I think the very public apology was sweet. However, to his wife I think something a little more private was necessary.
