if my daughter does not start sleeping through the night I don't know what I will do!

Night before last she did.

But, 13 yo son was yelling out in his sleep and woke me at 11:30 - I swear it was his spelling words or something!  I went and checked and he was fine.  A couple hours later Jake came in and got me b/c he had started to pee in his bed so I had to get up and help him.

The night's she does sleep, no one else does.  I'm in desparate need of a few night's of solid sleep.

yuck.

i feel your pain.

speaking of movies, i remember as a kid, my friend jenn's parents would bring she and i and her brother and sister to R rated movies at the drive-in...but they would make us sit on the ground outside of the car so we could see the movie, but not hear it. if people called dss as much back then as they do now, i have no doubt her parents would be in jail. i can also remember her father, who had no legs, trying to whip us with a belt from the bottom of the stairs...yet we knew he had no legs and couldn't get to us at the top, so we would sit there and harass him (well, his kids would--i would just observe in silent horror)no

what the hey is the problem?

just sleep.  please.  sleep.  all.night.long.

kate is so loud - I know she could bust glass with her crying!  And for it to come so fast and loud in the dead of the night is erasing years from my life every night!

I will get up and rock her for 15 minutes.  put her in her crib.  she will either start crying immediately or within 20 minutes.   then DH will get up and rock her for 15-20 mins, put her in crib and she sleeps all night.

why won't he just get up and address it from the start?

we're moving to cio this weekend.  it's the only thing that will get her back on track to sleeping well.

this post begs for follow up questions.

1.  what happened to his legs.
2.  why would you go back to their house after being chased by a legless man with a belt?
3.  why would a man try to whip another person's child with a belt?
4.  why would this family move into a house with stairs whilst having a legless father?
5.  who drove the car when you went to the drive in movies?
6.  did your parents like this legless tyrant?

1.  what happened to his legs: Vietnam
2.  why would you go back to their house after being chased by a legless man with a belt?   She was the only girl on my street my age and SHE was very nice...just had a crazy familyaww
3.  why would a man try to whip another person's child with a belt? See my part about calling DSS ;) I have NO idea.
4.  why would this family move into a house with stairs whilst having a legless father? biggrin I think his wife liked being able to get away from him as much as the kids did!
5.  who drove the car when you went to the drive in movies? He had a prosthetic he would use...but back then they weren't as good as they are now and I don't think it bent?? I don't know--I just know he couldn't do stairs.
6.  did your parents like this legless tyrant? I never asked them and I def. never told them he tried to whip us with a belt.

good morning

I don't remember what my first movie was, but I'm pretty sure we didn't get to go often. I do remember one of the most memorable ones was seeing Hoosiers when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I fell in love with basketball and it was the reason I decided to try out for the team.

I hate having to wait to see the doctor (or in this case the nurse practitioner), my first appt is on the 12th.

I'm feeling so anxious this time, I think it's because I tested so early. With the last two I didn't test until I actually missed a period, and then that was it - I just didn't worry about it and never tested again, just waited. I also had early symptoms then, too...like sore boobs.

This time, I'm nervous. I actually got that first BFP on the 26th, and my last period was on 8/31. So I don't know, I would be getting my period this week. I keep feeling my boobs, they're not very tender yet, and maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me, but I feel a little crampy today. I just took another test, and I thought maybe the line would be darker.

Ugh, I hate waiting.

Jolynn, I didn't have a single symptom with Josie. I never would have known I was pregnant if it wasn't for the big belly.

The line never got any darker with her.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts. The first trimester is so nervewracking .

All Dogs Go to Heaven. We went with school on a field trip (which looking back was probably not the most appropriate selection for a public school), although I have no idea why.

Yesterday Henry told me that his friend Payton went home sick after throwing up at school.

The evening before that, Henry was playing at Payton's house.

Another kid in his class went home sick yesterday as well.

Plus we got a note home in Mark's preschool folder that he was exposed to the H1N1 flu virus on Friday.

Sigh.

I asked Henry if he would try some stuff to help him learn his schoolwork if I could find fun ways to teach him.

He said yes.

Now I have to think of ways to make science and social studies fun.

Making the impossible possible.

I potty-trained two kids; I can probably make science and social studies fun.

Is it wrong that I'm laughing about a legless man chasing kids with a belt?  giggle.gif

Does that make me a bad person?

I can't believe it.

I think Josie is completely night trained.

I still have her in pullups but she has been dry for over a week now in the morning. She gets up, comes into bed with us, watches sesame street podcasts for 15 - 45 minutes depending on how early she gets up, and then gets up and pees.

I'm considering putting her in underwear full time.

She's in underwear at daycare all day and still has 1 or 2 accidents a week.

She just turned two in August! I'm not ready for this. haha. Where did my baby go?

That's awesome!

Sonya I have to say they do grow up fast but I really wish E would have been as easy as Jo with potty training.  We are still working on making it through the night dry.

Jenn I haven't seen you on here in a while.  How are you all doing?

Toni that dog incident would have made me livid.  Our dog would have done the same thing.  He is outside quite a bit and since he likes to counter surf I doubt that will change.  Maybe that will change when it gets really cold (or maybe he will be used to the cold and just go out and play (bag).

I don't know if this will help you any, but I used to make a couple of generic game boards from the large sheets of construction paper or tag board.  Sometimes I just make them colorful, other times I used stickers and whatever to decorate them.  Then I used index cards for questions.  This way you can use the same boards over again and just change the questions.  It also helps to laminate them.  You can roll a dice to see how many spaces forward the player gets to go when answering the question right or just write the spaces on the cards.

Also I do not know what kind of learner Henry is, but you can have him answer questions or retell whatever it is while doing silly things like standing on his head, putting his finger on his nose, talking in a silly voice, standing on one foot, etc.

If you feel really energetic you can make out cards with questions on them.  Then when he gets the answer right he gets the first clue to where the treasure is.  AFTER he has all the clues he can use them to go find the treasure (maybe a coupon for something or a snack).

Sorry if you were not looking for all of this, but I know earlier you were looking for some ideas.  Besides if I wasn't doing this I would have to do some actual cleaning here and, well, we can't have that. lmao.gif
