Those with boys -peter potty

Raym is starting to show an interest when I go potty so I sit him on the seat in his diaper when I go.

Anyway Has anyone used the peter potty? Is it a good height, not easily tipped, easy to empty?

Is this something that will make poop training more difficult since they are used to standing while going potty or should I make this a transition potty when they have learned to go sitting down.

I had a post but I have no idea where it went.

We never used any kind of potty. The one we did have made Colin so frustrated b/c his aim wasn't perfect so if he missed, he got angry.

And for us- Colin wanting to use the potty like Daddy never hampered his poop training. He just wanted to be like Daddy and figured that that was the best way to do it.

I don't know about the peter potty but to be honest - Gavin potty trained sitting down. We had him sit to go both. Actually, it wasn't until this year that he *finally* started to pee standing up. AND - I'm super glad we did it this way because Owen wants to do it standing up and he gets pee everywhere. Gavin was taller and more coordinated/mature when he started peeing standing up so he never makes a mess.

It was easier to poop train too because he was already sitting down to pee. Now he is old enough to make the connection of what he has to do and how he needs to sit/stand.

We have one of those and used it with Kyle.  He did not like sitting on the potty chair and thought it was 'cool' to be able to stand and pee, so it worked for us.  It was the only way we could get him to go for a long time.  It took him awhile to get pooping so it wasn't much of an issue for us.

It's pretty sturdy when you lean it against a wall.  I think it's wall-mountable, too.  You can adjust the height some, we found it was a pretty good height for Kyle.  It was easy to empty, though it does require some cleaning.  And the thing Kyle liked was that it was flushable, meaning there's a water reservoir and they can actually push a button to "flush" it - the water comes from the top and collects with the pee in the bin.

After awhile we discovered a toilet seat attachment that he preferred, and after that he would sit on the toilet to pee and poop.

we don't have one, but i think if you talk to the majority of moms of boys you will find that they *usually* seem to p/t sitting down and figure out the standing up thing later. it seems like once they go to preschool and see other boys standing up, they all sort of follow that lead.

my reply disappeared.  In summary, I think it is a waste of money.  Ditto Corey.

Well, this makes me feel better. I thought Gavin was the only 4 year old that didn't pee standing up. I mean, he does now and did it on his own. I guess Owen just does it because that is how Gavin does it. Good to know!

ahahahahahahaha!!!  so true.  mason learned sitting down.  he still goes sitting down.  we've tried teaching him to stand, but he won't hold his penis.  so, we'll wait a while and then he can try again if he wants.  but, as far as i'm concerned, he can wait until high school to start peeing standing up ;)
