:)

so yesterday, i left my hair in a messy ponytail all day after showering.

after getting a good wine buzz last night, i headed up to bed and the instyler was calling my name on my vanity.

i heated that bad boy up and attacked the under part of my hair with it.

wow.

i was pretty shocked and pleased with how well it pulled the curl out.

the main reason i bought it was so that it would help me get the bulk of the curl out before i use the chi b/c the chi takes forever.  and so far, it really looks like it will do exactly that.  i spend 5ish minutes and had done a LOT of the back and sides of my head.  (that's when my buzz really kicked in and i decided i should put down the 400 degree appliance and go to bed.)

anyway, i washed my hair today and it is air drying now.  in a little while i will take before, during and after pics for anyone else who is contemplating getting one.

based on last night, i think that it will cut about 10 minutes off of my 25 minute hair routine in the morning.  definitely worth it to get down to 15 minutes!!!!

oh, and i STILL need to work on the left side of my head.  apparently, the barrel always needs to work around your head with it pointing to the back of your head on the right side, but toward the FRONT of your head on the left side.  that is a little tricky, but i'm working on it.  oh, and i've definitely burned the shiz out of my forehead once.  ouch.

Ok-so I LOVE the before!!! I think your curls are beautiful, I really do!!!

They should make that instyler to have a barrel that can switch to the opposite side, kwim? That would make things much easier, don't you think?

I am wondering if I should try this thing out. Sometimes I think the Chi gets my hair TOO straight, plus is takes forever. Do they sell these in any stores or do you have to order online?

I can't wait to see the after!!

aww, thanks laura!

i think all it would need to do is reverse directions and i'd be golden.

i know a lot of people think that about the chi - it gets hair too straight - but i love it.  i want my hair REALLY straight, so it's perfect for me.

i just did a quick google and it says the instyler is not available in stores yet.  stacey and i ordered together and they were 2 for $90.  if you can find someone to go in on one with you, it's not bad at $45.

i'll update with more pics in a bit.  i'm going to put on a movie for my kids and attack my hair once it dries a little more.

(no moty comments please - matt is at the boat & my back went out this morning. i'm ALL doped up on soma right now. LMAO!)

ITU-I actually love that my hair is supa sleek and straight with the Chi, except that I want some more body and curl towards the ends, kwim?  I look better with that style.

Anyhoo-I will wait it out for a while, unless someone who doesn't have one wants to go in (if so, lmk!!).  Good to know so I won't be scouring the earth for one.

Ok, seriously??  Out on the boat again???  I HOPE he was already on the boat when your back went out!!  And I hope you are ok!!!! (I wouldn't have said anything about a movie afternoon anyway-isn't that what Sundays are for???)  FEEL BETTER!!

see i'd kill for these curls. this is how mine *used* to curl before pregnancies.

sigh.

i'm really happy the instyler is working for you. i hate recommending stuff and then everyone's like "i hate it" - lol.  it sounds like for you it achieves the same thing as it does for me - just plowing through the major bulk.  cant wait to see afters!

alright, so i'm back.

and my initial review is Meh.

in the instyler's defense, my hair wasn't 100% dry and that's when it straightens best. so i really need to give it one more chance before i really know what i think. overall, it just leaves my hair a little too full and thick. and i cannot get close enough to the root, which i really need or else i have that weird wave at the base of my hair. but here are the before, progress and after pics from today.

before:

back before:

after (you can see how i can't get it close enough to the roots for my liking):

sides:

back - you can really see that it's more volume and not sleek and straight how i like:

front - so blech:

and after the chi - better, but still not as good as normal:

i think it looks nice, but i agree about the root. this is my issue too.
i think if you blow it out first and focus on the root, you will get a flatter look from it.
i think it's a matter of what you like - i like a little more wave/curl/body to mine, so the instyler is good bc it's way easier to get volume out of it.
BUT i still totally have to blow it out first bc it doesnt get those root kinks.
what if you chi over it now? do you think it took less time than regular chi-ing?

i can chi start to finish on dry hair in about 25 minutes.

today, between managing the kids, taking pictures, instyler and chi, i spent about 30 minutes.

i will probably continue to use the instyler in the back underneath to get out the bulk of the curl and then use the chi on the front and sides and to smooth the back.

i cannot blow out my hair.  no matter how patient, how slow, how big of a brush, which products, my hair is ALWAYS frizzier that way than if i just chi.  :sigh:

i hate blowing my hair. HATE.

i think my hair is frizzier than yours though. if i dont at least get it to a "straight frizz" (it's fine if it's crazy bushy, but it has to be de-kinked), then all of these straighteners are totally useless for me.

have you tried morrocanoil yet?

and mine seems to be the opposite - if i leave the curl but don't get it frizzy, i can get it nice and flat and shiny with the chi.

i just googled morroccanoil and now i need more info.  popcorn.gif

lmao. i've been meaning to touch base with you on this topic.

i bought the curl cream and it didnt do nuthin' for me.  i talked to my hair stylist friend today and she said my hair is really too shot to encourage any curl at this point (bc of the coloring crisis).  but others have told me that the curl cream is great for curls.

she told me today that the original oil is great for straightening.  i plan to get it at some point - but right now i'm not straightening for a while, so i'm not investing right this second.

i dont know how it compares to biosilk really.  my friends are all raving.  they say it gets all the frizz and puffiness out.  but....who knows.

i'm so willing to invest in this for straightening.

back in the day i was a big fan of biosilk.  but i heard they were bought out and i really don't think it's the quality it used to be - it leaves my hair greasy and i don't like that at all.

i'm going to see if i can find the MO in a store near me.

too bad we don't live closer - we could share a bottle as a trial.  giggle.gif

i was just going to say the same thing.  lmao.
let me know how it goes. i hear it smells great and makes your hair SUPER soft.
i dont find that biosilk makes my hair greasy...mine still works great for straightening (i had posted the after pics in "about mom" i think, and that was just using some biosilk after the hair stripping incident, and it came out pretty smooth)....i am bummed that i wasted $22 on the curl cream, but maybe it will take out a LITTLE frizz for this time period when i wont be straightening.
i cant believe i'm stuck in the glasses still with the frizz??? gimme a break!!!
