well, i am sure it differs from person to person depending on your doctor's opinion and also on how your pregnancy is. mine were pretty easy and i obviously lifted connor because he was only a year old--he wasn't even walking when i was first pregnant with grace. i still drank one coffee per day and would color my hair at home with ventilation. i tried to skip lunch meat, but i'm not a huge sandwich eater anyways.
i am not a super careful pregnant person though--i also painted rooms and raked the lawn, so i might not be the best person to answer:)
deli meats restriction is due to the risk of coming in contact with Listeria bacteria. I didn't worry about it in previous pregnancies but last summer, 20 people died in Canada due to listeria contamination connected to a very prominent, safety consious meat company. I never would have worried about it but knowing how serious that was and how many people died, I'm not eating deli meats if I ever get pregnant again. Not worth the risk.
I did not drink coffee first trimester. I then did start and did a half/caf. They say caffeine can up your chance of miscarriage. I just felt like why risk it. I am a huge coffee drinker.
I did not do deli meat either. I know people that have gotten sick from listeria, so I did not risk it.
I am pretty sure lifting is okay unless you have issues. Do you lift Charlie that often?
He likes me to carry him up to the bath at night, and into bed etc. He is quite heavy and I can manage him normally ok, but wouldnt want to do damage...
I lift both of my kids. Aubrey is 30lbs and Austin is 25 lbs, so I don't know if that helps. If you start to cramp any, of course stop carrying him around. But a little here and there shouldn't do any harm. Austin kicked me hard in the stomach a few days ago with his tennis shoes on and it hurt a ton, but the baby is so protected in there its gotta be a pretty hard fall/hit to do damage.
I try to limit my caffiene, I drink about one soda a day. Or a cup of coffee but I don't usually do more than that. Mostly because half of my coffee is milk and sugar and those calories add up fast! LOL
As far as deli meats, I would steer clear. Every now and again I get a sandwich from Subway but not too often.
I'd skip on coloring your hair until you are roughly 12 weeks and then make sure you are in a well ventilated area when you are doing it.
I carried Mason sporadically, and always got in trouble with DH when I did, LOL. But it didn't strain me to do so. We did snuggle a lot though.
I think after the first trimester they say it is safe to color your hair. Supposedly there isn't any known risk to doing so in the first trimester, but it's better to err on the side of caution.
Deli meats I mostly avoided, unless I had a strong craving and then I heated them up. Oddly enough, when I was in the hospital on bedrest, I could order anything from the cafeteria and deli sandwiches were on the menu.
My OB always said one serving of caffeine a day, and I stuck to that. I didn't avoid deli meats, but didn't eat much of them anyway. Same goes for cheeses made from raw milk and aged less than 60 days. They are illegal in the US, but IDK about other parts of the world. (listeria is the risk with that too)
I colored my hair, but not in the first trimester. And Anna was 7 months old when I got pg, so the lifting issue didn't come until after my c/s. That said, if I were pg now, I would lift my kids if I needed to-they are 33 and 40 lbs.
