She is hugely popular around here, especially at Baptist churches. I am participating in my church's 2nd Beth Moore study which starts in a few weeks. I've heard so many great things about the first study. The one I'm attending is about the book of Psalms.
I've never actually done a Beth Moore Bible study before. I'll have to tell you what I think after I start going.
I've done 3 different bible studies by her, and one thing's for certain about it--when you finish one, you have definitely learned more of the bible's teachings.
She's very, very, in depth, and you really have to dig into it. She's SUCH a Godly woman!
I just started my 3rd Beth Moore Bible study yesterday. We are doing Esther. I really like how she teaches. She is such a character and so in love with God. Such an inspiration.

Don't you feel like you really, really learn the bible from her? She's so DEEP!

I've done 2 studies of hers with ladies at my church. The first one was on David and the last one we finished was called "When Godly People Do Ungodly things" I liked them both.
Okay, I went to the first installment of my Beth Moore Bible study yesterday. It is called "Stepping Up, the Psalms of Ascents" or something like that. Yesterday was just the introductory lesson on dvd so there weren't any discussion questions or anything. I didn't get a chance to buy the book but the leader (who is my sil) had copies the pages of the introduction for those who hadn't bought the book yet.
First I have to say Beth Moore is cute, bubbly little lady. Second, she is FIRED UP about what she does. I think she would be VERY off-putting to someone who wasn't already a Christian. Third, she went on and on to the people in her actual audience and to her TV audience about how all of us women were DOWN; something was bringing us DOWN; we were just DOWN and we may not even know why but this study is guaranteed to "bring us up". Um, I'm not down. I'm perfectly fine.
So after the Bible study, I went to the movies with Kimberly. She told me that she'd done several Beth Moore studies in her church and was glad they were finally doing someone else because she was a little tired of the same stuff. Then she said that the only study she had done of Beth Moore's that she really didn't like was all about the tabernacle. She said it went into too much depth about the materials used in the building and the fabrics and things--too much detail that she found boring. Then she said it had a lady walking up steps on the front of the book and was called "Stepping Up".
Great. So the ONE study I've signed up to do is the "boring" one. I haven't bought the book yet but I would really like to quit before I do. The main problem with that is that the leader is my sil.
Oh, well.
I'll still give it a chance. Maybe it won't be so boring to me.
