Hi!

"Labor"-Day-related: What was the silliest, craziest, or most enjoyable paying job you ever had?

Non-holiday-related: What was your most recent crazy dream?

First, I don't think I ever had a crazy or silly job but one I really enjoyed was data entry at Deluxe Checks. It was my summer job when I was in college, and I sat in a line of other people at computers, entering names/addresses to go on people's checks and proofreading. I always liked typing and proofreading.

Second, I'll have to get back to you on the crazy dreams but I had some whoppers last night--not the least of which involved a pig at church.

Good morning.

When I was a freshman in high school I used to line the baseball fields for little league.

It was 150 degrees outside in the summer so I blew it off most days even though I was suppose to do it Mon-Fri.

Needless to say the parents hated me.

I worked for the maintenance department at my college for two years. I was one of the front desk girls/receptionist/data entry, etc. It was the most fun I've ever had at a job. The girls I worked with were amazing, the pay was great for being an on campus job. My bosses were the best and they let us do so many things outside our job.

The big boss was awesome. He let me drive a fork lift and also brought me and another girl to do a job where we wired an entire building for a PA system. I honestly wish I could still do that but it wouldn't be the same now. Best job ever!

Funny you should mention the dream thing. I had a crazy dream last night about someone's older son dying. Cuh-razy!

The summer after my sophmore year of HS I worked at Kiddieland Amusement Park in the food service dept. It was MISERABLE. If it was 85 outside, then it was 95 in the food stands, and there were always flies everywhere. We were a bunch of teenagers who were being managed by older teenagers with clipboards and superiority complexes, so you can imagine how bad it was.

My first day of work was a 12-hour shift working on the popcorn cart. I stood there all day, making and selling popcorn, standing next to the put-put cars. Worst.Day.Ever.

It's funny, because Kiddieland is closing this year after 80 something years, and they had a segment on the Today show about it the other day. I felt all sad and nostalgic until my horrible ex-bosses came on to talk!

I didn't have a crazy, most fun job to be honest.

Well, taking care of my grandparents' neighbors two kids. Those kids were an absolute blast! They were 12 and 8. Absolute joys, too. It was the summer I graduated HS. Best kids.

After that it was two boys for a friend of mine. Those kids were something else. Eeish. Nothing else comes to mind.

Umm. Last night's dream. But I don't remember much past running around constantly repeating the last name of one of DH's employees.

And the one with the bear. In which there was a bear attacking us and DH asked me to go and grab "Lucy" but before I could grab it he was carrying the bear to the house....Odd.

I don't think I have every had a truly enjoyable job. I am fairly certain I am allergic to working.

I do remember being a camp counselor a couple of summers, and at this one music camp one summer, Toni Braxton's two younger sisters were counselors with me. She was just really making it big then, and I thought it was SO COOL that I knew her sisters. They bragged about Toni all.the.time.

Oh, and this one summer, I started out working at this little local Greek place-that guy was such a cheapskate, you weren't even allowed to drink the soda there (and they still to this day don't allow free refills-for customers that is). And this one Mexican dude who cooked there in the kitchen went to Rite Aid on his break one day and bought me a bottle of cheap perfume, lol. I didn't stay long after that.

I also worked that summer at the Macaroni Grill. I sucked as a waitress. They really only hired me because I can sing. I was the resident singer that summer. I still have a scar on my arm from a dish of lasagna that was so hot it burned me through two layers of towels AND my shirt. Youch.

I had a wacky scary dream this morning, but I don't remember all of the details. It was, as they all are, about something happening to my kids and my not being able to stop it.

My most loved job was when I taught gymnastics from age 15-19. I loved working with the kids and teaching them things.

Most recent dream of memory was a sex one. blush.gif It was a good one at that! ;)

I've had quite a few great jobs.

I worked as a tour guide at a museum where people came only every few days. There were 4 of us working and we had a ball.

I also worked for two years at a high end toy shop. That was a blast. Good people, life long friends and toys! What could be better. Oh, that's right, my sister worked at the belgian chocolate shop down the hall - all you can eat chocolates and ice cream. That was a good gig.

hi girls!

my "funnest" job was the summer after my first year teaching - i took at temp job at an ad agency in denver.  i was just a receptionist, but i had very little responsibility outside of answering the phones.  i played tons of games online and stuff like that.  they gave me a few little basic jobs on occasion.  when they figured out i was pretty good on a computer, i started helping some of the guys with spreadsheets, etc.  that was fun.  but they had a super fun environment there - chair massages fridays, an awesome kitchen with gourmet coffees, etc.  lots of parties.  they did lots of the coors ads, so i got to drink a lot of beer on fridays, etc.  fun times!

supa's story reminded me that my first job ever was at boston chicken (as it was called then) and i had tons of mexicans hitting on me all the time.  i quit after one of them cornered me in the walk-in cooler and i was really scared he was going to rape me.

i had a dream about our Jr ROTC captain at school the other night.  weird.

quiet day

I suppose you are all off enjoying your labor/labour day.

we took the kids on an adventure today - playground, public gardens, thai restaurant and then a bus home.

great day and so nice not to have to top it off with a long drive home.

making our first supper in the new place right now. Very exciting.

This morning, Henry asked if we could eat lunch at the zoo. I told him we couldn't afford it so he offered up $12.

We went.

We were there a really long time.

It was fun.

When we were finishing lunch, Henry said, "Now what do you say?"

I was confused; "What do you mean?"

He said, "Well, I paid for lunch."

So Mark and I told him thank you.

In addition to seeing all the cool animals and the sea lion show, we rode the tram and played in the fountain.

omg, robin, henry is a piece of work.

that is my new favorite saying for my kids.

apparently i also say "emily i'm not playing this game with you" a lot too b/c i have heard her say that to jake and also her dolls lately. this afternoon she also said to me, "mom, i know you not playing this game with me right now." lmfao

we're watching "cars movie" again as my kids requested. they love it but don't sit and watch it through so i don't mind putting it on.

i have 2 loads of laundry to finish, make lunches for tomorrow, shower, figure out what to wear for the first day of school (), and vacuum when matt gets home from the boat with the vacuum. i cannot believe how busy my life is about to become. blech

so we're looking at upgrading to a bigger boat.

we just bought this boat in april, but for as much time as we spend there, it's just way too small downstairs. there is no storage and we are constantly tripping all over each other between the 4 of us and the dog.

matt's putting for sale signs on it right now. our neighbor says he'd be shocked if it didn't sell in the next few weeks. i hope he's right. i hate having to sell stuff. we did already have 1 person come and look at it and he seemed to like it. but lots of boat shoppers are tire kickers. (ha, that's a funny cliche to put there)

anyway, now we are on the watch for a new boat for us. ideally we could sell our boat at the end of the month, be boat free over the winter and buy a new boat in the spring. that would save us all of the winterization and storage fees.

Did you answer the door?

Also, I hope your boat sells quickly.

I like your plan to be boat-free for the winter.

I'm going to see "Post Grad" (I think) with Kimberly this evening--well whatever movie starts at 7:35.

My mom read that it got zero stars.

Should be fun.
