My First Attempt at Wedding Photography
Permalink

My neighbor's son got married on Saturday and since this was a no budget wedding they asked me to take the pics.  I'm still figuring out shooting in manual mode.  Some of the backlighting was very harsh--who knows how to adjust for that?  I took almost 600 and these are my faves.  Oh--I also made the bouquets.  Fun, fun, fun!

Nope, no class.  Just winged it.  I'm also going to be taking pics at my BIL's wedding in Hawaii in October, so a class probably isn't a bad idea.

If that is winging it, you definitely have a future in professional photography!

Extremely good!!! Well done! You should be very proud of yourself.

One tip = on your B&W shots I would increase the contrast just a little to make them pop a bit more.

Backlightling is a PITA! Looks good though - no harsh shadows or anything. Did you use a flash?

Ourdoor photography in bright sunlight is tricky. Either use a super fast Shutter speed on manual or close your aperture down a bit to avoid blown out whites.

Really well done. Has the bride seen them yet?

Thanks!  I turned all the harsh lighting ones to B&W.  Good tip for the contrast.  I'll have to play with that.

I didn't use a flash at all.  I shot the whole thing with my prime lens at a 1.8 aperture most of the time.  I do have a speedlight but I haven't gotten comfortable with it yet.

The bride saw them and was very happy.

WOW, I love photography but I don't think I'm anywhere as good as you are without classes!!  You did a wonderful job!!!

In the 13th picture I think the little boy looks just like Nicole's Austin... dontcha think?

I have always thought that.  He's my BFF's son, Jacob.  I've been meaning to show her Nicole's siggie.
