I remember that you had a hair relaxing treatment..  I was wondering if you're happy with the results?  I've heart that it causes hair thinning, breakage, hair loss and all those scary things...  so I remembered that you've had it and want to gather all the facts before I decide to go for it smile

TY!

hey irina!

ok, first of all, i have not had ANY issues like the horror stories you're describing.  i have had NO side effects whatsoever.

i had it done the 3rd week of june.  this is the end of august and i can now see that it's starting to wear off and i need to decide whether or not to do it again.

i just hate paying the $250, but when it was first done and for the first 2ish months, my hair was SO much easier to deal with.

if it were more reasonably priced, i would be doing it again without hesitation.  because of the price, i'm still mulling it over.

lmk if you have any other questions!

my former babysitter has been doing it for at least a year now, every 3 mos, and has had no probs whatsoever.  i just saw her yesterday and she's still trying to convince me to do it.

since we saw the keratin treatment in the city for about HALF of what i pay here, maybe i need to take the train in, meet you for lunch and we go together to have it done.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm that sounds like SO much fun.

dyk, though, that the best preschool-mom-friend i've made is a hairdresser.

and has offered NUMEROUS times to do it at my house for half the price.

and i keep saying no.

:crazy.

i am soooooo paranoid.

Thank you.  Here in Philippines it costs about $70 and they call it hair rebonding and say that it's better than hair relaxing since it does less damage to the hair.   So cost is not a factor but I am just sooo nervous.  I lost a lot of hair after Christopher was born so I am a bit paranoid about hair loss.
Thanks for your input smile

lol. totally.
should we ask jayna to make you a kelly-mask?

my friend thinks i TOTALLY SHOULD DO IT. she basically says i have no option if i ever want my hair to look remotely ok. (we're very candid with each other - and you guys know - i have terrible hair - there's no way around that fact).
she knows i'm a nervous wreck about chemicals though, and she knows that no degree of "it's safe it's safe it's safe" is going to convince me.
it's completely safe.
i know that.
but i still am like, what if.
(this is why i need a therapist more than a hairdresser).

omg april you should go to the philippines for your next round!

irina, a LOT of my hair broke after cara was born too.  it didnt show up as thinning, because i have a TON of hair, but everytime i blew my hair dry it was sticking up straight in the spots where it broke.  now the broken bits are around earlobe length and my hair appears VERY thick on top and it's really hard to de-kink that top part now. i've resorted to all sorts of high twists and braiding and all sorts of stuff.  it's a huge pita. plus it's been a very rainy summer in NY so straightening it has just not been worth the effort. UG.
