emily is a screamer so she SCREAMS everytime jake does something to pizz her off - get too close to her on the stairs, open the door when she's in the bathroom, try to close the gate at the top of the stairs (he can't actually do it), etc etc etc.
i can almost deal with his destruction more easily than i can deal with her screaming and whining all.day.long.
she NEEDS to be back at school!!!
Sounds like school starting will be a good thing for your kids!!! I can't handle screaming. I just can't. That is an immediate time out because I hate it so much. (not if they are outside-and I make exceptions for things like daddy tickling them and such. Then daddy gets in trouble and has to take on an extra duty for making them scream) Screaming absolutely SUCKS.
I'll taking whining over screaming anyway, even though whining sucks too.
My girls were terrors when school first let out, but we have gotten used to being together all the time again. I hope they are fine with going back! I am not sure I am ready for it, but I guess it will be nice to have those mornings to myself, especially since my parents travel a lot this time of year. But they are expecting the same kids to be in their classes-I hope they have some good friends in their classes this year!!! I am just a smidge worried about Kate being the oldest and feeling like everyone else is a baby.
I'm not sure which I dislike more--whining or screaming.

oh gosh, you would not survive in this house. it's insanity.
i really wish they got along better. i'm really hoping that a year from now, i can say things are better.
i can only hope!
i hope you enjoy your mornings alone! i would kill for that!

It's a toss-up.

wow. you'd be even more miserable at my house than laura would! :P
He wanted to play in our wading pool (which gets very little use), so I turned on the hose to put some water in it.
After much pleading, he convinced me to get on my swimsuit and join him.
We played: -pretend swimming lessons -rain, thunder, tornado -pirate ship -treasure hunt -wash Holly (she was in the pool with us so I went and got the baby shampoo) -shark attack -make Holly slide down playset
Then we came inside and played bake shop with the little kitchen in Mark's room. He cooked milk bones for Holly, then he cooked a variety of pretend stuff for me.
Then he wanted to play house. He was the daddy, and I was the little girl named Ginger.
He told me some stories, put me to bed, brought me grapes to eat, turned on the nightlight, then he told me it was time to wake up and go to music class.
He was the music teacher. We sang songs, then played musical chairs.
And then when I mentioned it was lunchtime, he made pb&j sandwiches while I made noodles. I told him I wasn't old enough to cook so he got out the tape measure to show me that I was a big teenager.
still trying to work out transportation issues but both my kids were super excited to go back to school again today.
poor jake had to come home early with a migraine. it's something like his 5th one in the last 6 weeks. i made him an appointment with the dr to talk about preventative meds. i was hoping to avoid them but he's getting migraines a lot more often now and the med he has (imitrex) isn't working at all for him.

Oh yes, I hate both. But screaming just goes right to my bones. It is a definite no no in this house, but they are getting to the age where they don't get why they aren't allowed to do things that other kids aren't. Oh well, too bad, so sad. Go live with them if you want to be allowed to scream your head off all day!
And you are right-they will be fine at school. And maybe Kate will love being big man on campus, so to speak!
I am so proud of myself. I went to a piyo exercise class. I discovered I have no ab muscles. I am back on the be healthy band wagon.
I wish I could say that no screaming ever happened here. E has been doing it since she was around 8 months old. I think it's genetic. We really do try to nix the screaming but I honestly think she is really has a predisposition to it.
Robin you are much more fun mom than me. I might play a game with E or tea party or something for a little bit, but not nearly as long or as fun as you with Mark. You rock the fun mom category.

sara, i was on imitrex in high school and eventually i sort of build up a tolerance to the oral form.
i did use the injections when i got a migraine and they still worked. does he use the injections?
i heard that there's a new migraine med on the market but i forget what it's called.

he's on the oral meds just whenever he gets one but he's getting them more frequently. part of it i think is weather related and part of it could be that he's growing so fast now and his hormones are all over the place. i just feel bad for the guy. at least it wasn't a horrible one today.
our last ped made him get a ct of his head before he prescribed anything so i know it's nothing more than migraines which is a relief.

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Everyone I talk to says the fighting lasts a LOOOOOONG time. It is definitely one of the hardest parts of my day. The last week or so have been pretty good in our house (knocking on wood), but ever since Kate was mobile, those two have fought over everything. IDK what your kids fight most about, but mine fight most over toys they both want, or one playing with the other's toys. I just can't tolerate it anymore. I will tell them they need to share, find a way to share things, take turns, whatever, and that if they can't, they lose whatever they are fighting over. We have had some knock down drag outs between the two of them-which Bill thinks is a hoot!! Me, not so much. That is a definite lose the toy moment.
But at least they aren't screaming!!!
I don't anticipate the fighting ending until they are grown. But I fully anticipate my involvement in it to get less and less as the years go by. I am like Bill Cosby-I don't care about justice, I just want QUIET, lmao!!
The mornings alone will be so nice!!! It only took 4 years to get them both out of the house at the same time!! (without my parents watching them, that is!) But I will miss them. I definitely am going to have to take advantage of the TTh times with them.

Sara, I hope he finds some relief with something. That has to be just awful, poor boy.
