Does anybody here have bamboo flooring?  How do you like them and do they do well with your children/pets?

We are looking into replacing the carpet in the living room along with the kitchen floor we have to replace from the leak earlier last month.

We are trying to make a investment and at the same time stay under budget as well.  Many reviews online say that Pergo is the way to go for less likely to dent, etc but is loud.  Bamboo is eco-friendly but not quite as strong if we want to go carbonized (we want to go dark) and if we went this bamboo route we'd get the strand one (strongest bamboo).  Reviews have said they do dent, etc  I expect any flooring to have that anyways.  But in the long run, the house value goes up because of what flooring we choose....

No way in heck we are going to get carpet... so it was either hardwood, bamboo or pergo as tile, cork and  others are out of our range.  Hardwood is still quite pricey.  Bamboo isn't too bad actually its cheaper than the hardwood we looked at.  Pergo is dirt cheaper but not as much value to it.... But holds well with children and pets.

So help me.... We want to try and get floor installed on labor day weekend... gosh, I hate thinking and shopping for floor  its such a big decision and so much to choose from!!!

I think bamboo looks beautiful especially the darker ones.... but I want to make sure we make the right choice.... ugh!

We have bamboo flooring in two rooms and it is light colored and it definitely has dents and is hard to keep clean.  I really would not recommend the lighter one...but I don't know about the darker color.

we have laminate flooring in Ivy's bedroom and I love it!  It really holds up well.

We have oak hardwood in our bedroom and that is also really great and holds up well (I am ashamed to admit, but I rarely mop that floor b/c it just doesn't show dirt/traffic).  Our bamboo flooring looks horrible most of the time b/c it would honestly need to be mopped every other day to look nice.  We have hardwood in our living and dining room and they also look good and hold up well.

I really recommend hardwood or the pergo (I think pergo looks really nice although it might not help your home value right now - you could replace w/hardwoods when you are thinking of selling if/when you do or when your kids are older maybe :dunno

I don't know about Bamboo, but right now I have grooved hard wood and I would trade it for Pergo in a nano-second. I love laminates. Looks good. Easy to take care of. Holds up well. Plus, there are laminates out there that look so real it's hard to tell the difference.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of... I love the look of bamboo but was not sure if it really held up that well, etc....

James is just not sold on pergo floors, I know I don't blame him because he wants nice floor for when we do sell someday in the future.  But who knows, maybe in time I will convince him....  to get pergo for now and then just get bamboo flooring later when we want to sell.
