Mark is still sleeping.

It's a miracle.

Sadly, I need to empty and load the dishwasher.

That will wake him up for sure.

TTYL!

Good morning, kids!

Sounds like you are all having great days so far! I'm freezing my butt off, and wondering wtf is up with this summer.

What am I most looking forward to? Hmmmm...not sure.

We have lots going on, and I waver between being excited and nervous as all get out.

I would say, I'm most excited about the kids starting their new schools. And me. But I hope it's not too hard.

I'm being flakey today!

Here's what I've been doing this week on the house:

I regrouted the kitchen counter:

I repainted the kitchen cupboards - they were too white so I painted them the color of the trim. I also put the handles up.

I also repainted the windows in the den. The last thing to do in the kitchen is to get the flooring put in (tile - which I hate but people like so we're doing it.)

my 16 year old neighbor girl called and offered to babysit for us this weekend so dan & i could go out alone. she's all "you don't have to pay me either, i just think you deserve a night out" now, of course we'll pay her - i could never NOT pay her.

super sweet. kinda weirds me out a little.

i'm trying to decide what to do. we always do dinner and/or a movie because we almost never get out so we just do the old standby. this time i'd like to do something a little less expensive and a little different. ideas?

Sonya, I hope Bill doesn't cause too much damage (except to the roof, that would be a pretty helpful insurance claim for you).

Josie kills me; my kids do that, too. They tattle for EVERYTHING, except the important stuff.

I think they do that because they figured out that tattling on serious issues hurts them, too. Mommy comes in, sees what happened (poo on the floor), and gets crabby at everyone.

At least that's how it works at my house (moty, for sure!)

Could you pack a picnic, drive into Chicago and walk around the park?

I think it sounds really nice and she just wants to help (and hopes you'll pay her). lol

Wow, Sonya, the house looks great!

Don't you just hate it that it takes moving to get you motivated to fix your place up? We did the same thing. Lived in our house for years, with a wish list of things we wanted to do. Decided to sell it, and finished up the wish list.

By the time we moved, everything looked so nice I didn't want to leave it!

Now that George is working (yay!!), I have to mow the lawn. It NEEDS to be done today, but I'm stalling. At least the cool weather makes it a nice day to do that!

You need to psych yourself up to move out of the state, I need to psych myself up to move my butt to the barn to get the mower out. I've never used it, but George texted my instructions.

It will be interesting, watching me use the riding mower for the first time. It takes George 4 hours to mow the entire lawn; it will likely take me 3 days.

I'll report back.

good idea! we do usually wait until like 7pm to go out though. i'm pretty sure i don't want to walk through chicago's parks in the dark. maybe i'll talk to her about a daytime thing...
