So George had his first day of work yesterday, and it went great (it was mostly orientation, but all the same, he was so excited and happy when he got home).

His new company has fitness centers at all of their plants (their are 3 in our area) with free personal trainers, so we are going to go over and sign up. We have to pay a $10 towel fee on our first day, but other than that it's free for employees and their families. One of the plants is right by my school, so I am going to try and get in the habit of going there either before or after class (they are open 24/7).

They also offer smoking cessation programs, and reimburse for WW, so I think we are on the road to getting healthy here. (He smokes, and I'm fat, so we all benefit biggrin).

It's nice to be excited about something like this-it's been a long time!

This child is going to be so ruined when he finds out the true miracle of life....And that no, dear child, not all babies are born via c-section.

I can see your guy growing into a world renowned virologist, lol!

Who knows, maybe viruses are somehow involved in procreation-he will have predicted it first! Clever little guy, putting ides like that together!

I start on Wed night-yikes!!

The head of the biology dept called here the other day, because he thought there had been a mixup in my registration. He was confused, because I was registered for Intro to Biochemistry and Basic Anatomy and Physiology. (I have already taken 3 years of biochem, including an independent research semester, and advanced  A & P in college).

He had received my transcripts, and said "I don't think I've had anyone with as much biology education as this come through our classes yet."

I had to explain that the school I'm applying for has a rule that prerequisite classes be taken within 5 years of starting the program. He thought it was ridiculous that I have to retake them all-I'm so glad someone agrees with me, lmao!

That said, I'm hoping the refresher is helpful, and not too hard to keep on top of.

Let's hope for a change in course.

I took Danielle shopping for school clothes yesterday.

I have not spent that much time in a mall in YEARS. We went into the young people stores (some of which I used to frequent), and I could not believe the styles.

Lots of neon and pleather. Seriously, the 80's are back, and they cost $$. We ended up spending most of our time in the very loud and very smelly abercrombie store, where we walked out with fancy sweatpants (called cute butt pants) and a couple of shirts for waaaaay too much money.

I think I may stick to Target shopping from here on out. She just really needed some new duds for her new school.

Speaking of shopping, have you guys ever been in that store Justice?

Most obnoxious store EVER.

I just had to throw that out there.

A bunch of us at work (senior consultants) got invited for a lunch with the CEO of our company and the CEO of the company that owns us on Wednesday. It is supposedly a lobster lunch.

That can not be good. I'm sure they are mixing lobster with bad news (or at least with interesting news).

That's scary.

Do you guys typically get affected heavily by those stores? What kinds of things do you do in precaution.

I hope Roxana checks in to let us know how they are doing.

so glad george had a good day and i'm hella jealous about those benes. (i was thinking last night how i wished we lived close still and could do ww together again)

dan's job comes with the added benefit of being told not to inform osha about oil spills in the plant censored.gif

you are going to ROCK those bio classes and it will be good for your confidence.

In my experience, we did not get bad news over a lobster lunch (or any lunch, really).

When we were treated with a nice lunch, it was usually because 1) we were celebrating something,  2) they wanted us to do something for them, or 3) they wanted to show off to higher ups who were visiting.

Bad news at our company was delivered without fanfare, and usually behind closed doors.

Hey!

I was talking to G last night about the WW thing, and admitted how I was reluctant to do it because you weren't here to go with. He looked at me like I was plum crazy, and I dropped it, lol!

Has Dan had any luck with apps?

I'm going to call you in a bit. I have three kids here that I need to get moving.
