How do you care for your throw pillows?

In the past, whenever I've put them in the washing machine, they've come out a balled up mess.

A few people have told me just to spot clean them, but they REALLY need an extreme washing. Is there anything I can do besides pitching them?!?

Have you tried using something like a steam cleaner/spot bot on them?  That might work.

What about the dry cleaner dryer sheets?

When you wash them I am guessing you are washing them on gentle cycle.  When you dry them do you put them in the dryer with a tennis ball?

I am laundry room challenged.

I don't think I washed them (the old ones I had that got destroyed) on gentle, and I know I didn't use a tennis ball.

I'll definately try that (if I can find a tennis ball, that is, lol.)

i just replace them :bag
now though, i plan to only buy throw pillows that have removable covers that can be washed.
and if mike falls asleep on the couch, i make him use a bed pillow.
