Last night, I took Henry to see "The Wizard of Oz" at the Orpheum downtown. It was part of their summer family movie series. Henry had never seen it before, even though we own the dvd.

As a kid, I watched it once a year when it came on TV but it was never a favorite of mine.

Henry loved it, and I have a new appreciation for it as well. It was so funny to me to hear all the sayings that I hadn't realized came from that movie. Of course, there were many that I *did* know came from that movie as well. Plus I've always told Henry that his presents were "flying monkeys" whenever he asked what was in a present, so it was fun to show him where that idea started.

Btw, those flying monkeys are CREEPY. They aren't even monkeys exactly but blue flying men with monkey-tails and wings. CREEPY.

Glen and Mark watched the dvd at home while Henry and I were at the movie. Glen said Mark really liked it. Mark asked to watch it again first thing this morning.

Glen's grandparents are OBSESSED with this movie; they even have a Wizard of Oz room in their house. They'll be so pleased with the two new little fans in my house.

During the movie at the Orpheum (where there are a gazillion kids of all ages), a lady near us in the balcony would not stop "SHUSH"-ing people at the top of her lungs. It was so obnoxious and distracting. I could hear the dialogue just fine with the children talking and whispering but NO ONE could hear over her shushing. We now refer to her as the "shush" lady. The friend who went with us couldn't stop talking about her on the way home.
